Audio quality suffers after import

I am pretty new to Captivate, using Captivate 5. I am recording Audio for a tutorial. First I recorded in Captivate. I wasn't happy with hissing background noise and wasn't able to reduce it to my satisfaction using the Audio editing features in Captivate. Decided to try Audacity. Exported audio file from Captivate. Loaded into Audacity. Fixed the hissing (sounds great!). Exported from Audacity as MP3 and loaded back into Captivate. Unfortunately, with some files that I've done this to, I've noticed a pretty big reduction in quality--it's kind of hollow sounding and a little bit static-y in an electronic sort of way if that makes sense. It's like the files have been corrupted a little. I tried exporting from Audacity as a WAV file, but that didn't seem to help. I'm not noticing this issue on all the slides/files, but on about half.

Does anyone have any ideas for fixing this issue? I'd rather not re-record unless I have to. If I do end up doing that, would I get better results if I start off in Audacity? Any other audio tips? This is the first time I've used audio in elearning and all the tools are new to me, so anything would be helpful.

I know this is a very old post, but I have recently started taking my finished Captivate 2019 .mp4 files and putting them into Adobe Premiere, and replacing with the original audio files I recorded and modified in Adobe Audition.

It's truly a shame that Adobe can't simply import audio into Captivate and then publish without terribly wrecking it's own audio, but apparently nothing has changed since this post originally appeared.

Welcome to Adobe Captivate forums.

We would like to know the Audio information like the Bit rate etc. Can you share your audio files ? If yes, then Can you send us the following

1. Audio file exported from Audacity

2. Audio file exported from Captivate. - I need the audio file which shows the degradation issue.

For Point 2, Navigate to the slide where you see the issue. In the filmstrip click the audio icon and in the context menu select "Find in Library".

Then in Library right click on the selected audio file and choose "Export" to export as .mp3

You may choose to upload the files to Acrobat.com and email the download link to ashwin at adobe dot com
