How do I get the font size to be responsive along with rest of project?

Hello,

Using Captivate 2017

I have "Enable Uniform Text Scaling" clicked for a particular slide with a minimum font size of 14px.  I have a text caption with 20px font size in a fluid box (static).  This fluid box serves as the header for my slide and the text caption is in the center (horizontally) and on top of a smart shape background.

How do I get the font size to shrink when the project does?

Hello Ryan,

The text scaling options are only for your runtime or published output. You will not see the changes in your edit area. Trying previewing the slide to verify the scaling.

Is there a way to enable the "uniform text scaling" on breakpoint mode?

No, it is not available in breakpoint mode

Two things...

  1. Text scaling won't change on the stage. You will need to preview the project to see this in action.
  2. If your object containing the text is large enough to accommodate the text even on smaller previews it won't reduce its size.

Try making the object containing the text smaller so that on a desktop view there is only just enough room for the text. Then click Preview > Project and use the slider to see different preview sizes. You should find that it works well at that point. Also, remember that if it's unable to fit all the text in the object even at the Minimum Font Size you will get the pop out text icon in your preview.

    I have been testing text scaling out, and everything works OK for me. This is also new to me, difficult to guess (as I can more easily for older features) what is wrong. How did you test, and in which browser? I have titles in a FB, and they do rescale nicely. Until this moment I didn't see (for titles) a difference between Static or non-static. How are the position properties set up for the title container?

    I kind of think I don't understand the feature.

    Anyway, here is my work flow:

    1. New responsive project
    2. add "blank" slide
    3. add fluid box to slide : 1 column, three rows
    4. Add text caption to top row, set font size to 72px
    5. at the slide level click "Enable Uniform Text Scaling"
    6. Test the responsiveness with the slider above the slide  ... The size of the font remains 72 pixels even with 320px width. (see screenshot)

    OK, but for me it works perfectly... if setting up the Position properties correctly for that text container.

    Will leave you to someone who understands better.
