Not able to upload scorm package to LMS after update to 11.8.1

Hi. My organization uses https://www.knowbe4.com/ to handle IT security courses. I developed a course and published it running v. 11.5.5 for a year or so ago. The course only consists of text and pictures and narration on each side. There are also navigation arrows (made of pictures). There is no quiz, Course report Complete when all slides are viewed. (100%)

Published it according to the spec on knowbe4.:

SCORM File Packages:

  • File Type: SCORM version 2004
  • SCORM Edition: 4th
  • Maximum File Size: 1 GB
  • Reporting Status: Complete/Incomplete or Passed/Failed (PS! Not able to select this in Captivate)
  • Content is included in the package and is not hosted on a third-party platform.
  • The package only includes one language.

The course worked perfectly.

I'm now on version 11.8.1.219. I have recently updated the course last week. (Just edited some text and updated the narration for those slides).

Now it's not working. When trying to upload the published Scorm package to knowbe4 we get this error message: "406 Data Model Element Type mismatch: could not parse number"

Has there been any change in the way that Captivate publishes a Scorm-package?

Correct answer GunnarHustvedt

This was solved by Knowbe4 support uploading the Scorm packages for us. That way we avoided the check in the upload function. Have tested the course afterwards, and it works as it should.

Sorry, but I never used that LMS and I can only guess now.

AFAIK the only changes in 11.8.1 were about taking out obsolete SWF features and making it  compatible with Win11 and the latest changes on Macs.

You have checked the HTML Tracker I suppose?

Did you test the same course in SCORM Cloud to double-check if the problem is to be looked for in the LMS or in Captivate?

Completion based on 100% slide views is always tricky. Some LMSs have issues with slide completion if only part of the slide has been viewed which happens a lot when you have interactive objects.

Thank you very much for your reply. I have tested with HTML tracker yes, and tested in Scorm Cloud. Everything's ok. There are no interactive objects. The strange thing here is that it worked fine when published in version 11.5.5. There are just some sentences, a couple of pictures and the narration that is updated. Nothing else. We are trying the Knowbe4 support. We'll see what happens there.

But one thing. When publishing in Scorm v. 2004 there are no way to choose Completion status. Scorm cloud stated that my course reported "Completed" and as you see in my first post the report status should be "Complete". Is there anyway to "hack" the published Scorm package and change from "Completed" to "Complete"?

Sincerely I believe you should find answers from the LMS people, if it is just about the wording. I have never hacked the specific SCORM files in the published SCO.

Based on what I have seen in this forum (where I am around daily since more than a decade) and in consultancy jobs, I know that weird behavior for a SCO which has no 'quiz' can be avoided. Adding one scored object which needs to be clicked by all the users and adding a Quiz passed to the criterion is always to be trusted. The learners do not need to be aware that there is a 'score' somewhere.
