Adobe found and charged new card

here's a good one--i intentionally cancelled my cards because of 2 monthly fraudulent adobe charges (no active plans) on a joint account and was told the merchant token was to be removed.  upon arrival and activation of the new card the first pending charge was to adobe!!  Another new card was issued and I had to opt out of all auto enrollment going forward for all reoccuring merchants and was told that should stop any future charges--i'll update in 1 month

I think that there is a clause in the subscription agreement or EULA that specifically allows for that to be done.

When my credit card company cancelled my card because someone tried to use it for fraud, all of my automatic payments continued, and I was thankful. It was several months before the old number stopped working for the automatic payments. This is normal banking procedure these days.

Adobe did not "find" the new card number. Your dad should check with his bank for confirmation. He should also monitor his account (his bank can tell him how.)

In addition, cancelling a card does not cancel an annual plan. You need to cancel any plan yourself. See how to cancel here:

Same thing happened to me. I cancelled my old card and had it replaced with a new one.somehow adobe knew about it and charged me. I did not give they the approval to charge me on my new credit card. This is not acceptable 

Credit card companies can pass updated credit card information to merchants to keep re-occurring payment information updated. The flip side is if your credit card was stolen, etc. you would not suddenly default on re-occurring payments. 

Best practice is to be aware of where you have subscriptions and update your subscriptions directly.

Same thing has happened to us, instead it was with a card that has never used for Adobe services. They supposedly keep cancelling the possible fraudulent transactions, but they just keep popping up month after month even after the card number was changed.

I do have an active Creative Cloud subscription with an entirely different card number.

Never heard of such a thing happening by itself. Maybe it's a "service" of the bank/credit-card company that transfers prior authorizations from an old CC to a new one automatically? You should ask them. Anyway, your father should know that cancelling a credit-card is not a good way to get out of a contract you don't like... In fact, it's a good way to get into a worse situation, such as owing a debt to that company.
