Question

Auto-update refuses to be turned off, fonts constantly activating/de-activating

Hello,

I've installed CC on a brand new machine, fresh install.

Some weird behaviour that I can't seem to troubleshoot...

- Fonts are de-activating and re-activating multiple times throughout the day, despite not making any changes. It's just like my entire activated library of fonts just stops and starts again

- I want to disable autoupdates, but if I toggle this in both the main app, and preferences, it then just defaults back to "auto updates on".

I've logged out and in again, I've also flushed any logged in sessions, this is the only session.

I'd like to know how I can fix this, it's really bugging me.

Thanks!

Sorry @kglad I never followed up, yes I did, thank you for the advice. Unfortunately the problem persisted even after doing that.

ok, then proceed to:

repair per https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/kb/creative-cloud-install-stuck.html

if that fails and you have windows, open your control panel > add/remove programs > cc desktop app > repair

if that fails, uninstall using the correct uninstaller from https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-creative-cloud-desktop-app.html#sa_src=web-messaging and then reinstall using*

if that fails, do a clean cc install carefully following each applicable step:

uninstall every cc app per https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-remove-app.html

then uninstall the cc desktop app, again using the correct uninstaller per https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-creative-cloud-desktop-app.html#sa_src=web-messaging

clean your computer of cc files per http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html

check for, and if available, update your os

if windows is your os, repair all ms visual c++ versions that can be repaired (use google if you don't know how to do this)

if windows is your os update your ms visual c++, if it can be updated (use google if you don't know how to do this)

restart your computer (don't skip this)

reinstall the cc desktop app using the "alternative download links" at the bottom of the page at https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/kb/creative-cloud-desktop-app-download.html

use the desktop app to install your cc programs/trials>

if that fails, you probably have a corrupt user account. google your os and how to create a new one.

Thanks Jane! I'll try there. You are 100% right on the video, I didn't realise by clicking that it would re-activate autoupdates again.

@nrostance7275667

If the answer from three days ago did not help, then you might post to the Adobe Fonts forum (or we can move this thread if your prefer.) Here is the link: https://community.adobe.com/t5/adobe-fonts/ct-p/ct-fonts

Adobe Fonts shouldn't activate multiple times in a day. I only see this alert when I install typefaces on one computer, then move to another computer.

I watched your video where you deactivate Auto-Update, then Enable it again when you click on "Enable auto-update". Can you clarify this part of your question?

Jane

wait until ongoing app updates complete before trying to change update settings.

and for your fonts, reset the cc desktop app by making sure it's in the foreground, then press:

Win: Ctrl + Alt + R
Mac: Cmd + Opt + R
