Creative Cloud slowing the performance of my Mac

Hi. I hope someone can help 

I’m very much a beginner with CC and the adobe programs and apps. I’m using CC and Illustrator regularly. CC is draining all energy, CPU and memory and my Mac is performing at a fraction of the speed with the fan running constantly and the device over heating … I can’t get the right advice from any forums I’ve checked so please advice if possible
