Activation error upon installation

E_ADEPT_CLIENT ActivationServiceInfo EXCEPTION Error%20#1009 RESP

This is the message I received upon installation of Digital Editions 1.6.
There's not even a message or step for me to activate the program. The program launches, then this message immediately pops up. I can only click 'Cancel' to close the program[clicking 'Try Again' doesn't help a bit]
What can I do? Thanks

Look down to the post by Patrick Custy on the 22nd. There is a link that you can use for a manual activation. I had the same problem and it fixed my activation problem.

I'm having the same issue and the site linked above is now unavailable.

I've downloaded the offline installer v1.7.2 as our PCs are not connected to the Internet.

Is there a way to locally activate this product without Internet connectivity?

Opening our firewalls for this is apps not an option, so I unfortunately need to find another way.

I hand the same Issue and Informit Customer Service [informit@custhelp.com] was able to point me in the right direction.

    Here is what they sent:

I apologize for your inconvenience. Please be sure that you are using Adobe Digital Editions 1.6.You may download this latest version at http://www.adobe.com/products/digitaleditions/. Also, your reader may require manual activation which you can accomplish by visiting https://aractivate.adobe.com/eden/EdenUI.asp. Let me know if you continue to have problems.

The Manual Activation did the trick.

    Dear Administrator,

I have just installed Adobe Digital Edition 1.6 and upon finish of installation it launches the program, and a loading bar indicates that the program is trying to initiate for the first time. However, it had kept on returning activation error messages:

    E_ADEPT_CLIENT ActivationServiceInfo EXCEPTION Error%20#1009 RESP

I have tried to install it on both of my PC (Windows Vista 64bit) and PowerBook G4, and I got the exact same error message. There were no activation options other than the 'Try again' and 'Cancel' button on the pop-up window. I have also noticed that, unlike other Adobe AIR programs Digital Edition's default installation directory isn't the 'Application' folder. Just wondering if this was intended to happen by default.

I have used previous version of Digital Edition, and was very pleased with the interface and user-friendly functionality. It's a shame that I have to search for alternatives now.

The Activation server is back online now. Just retrying the activation should fix the problem.

    Installed Digital Editions and this is the error message;

    E_ADEPT_CLIENT ActivationServiceInfo EXCEPTION Error%20#1009 RESP

any suggestions to fix it? The ebookmall that I bought a book from has no idea what to do, however I can not view the Ebook that I purchased without Digital Editions or so I am told.
PS, I am in the US and using Vista.

The Activation Service is still down - the upgrade of the database is taking longer than expected. Unfortunately we've blown past the original ETA and the process is still going, so I can't give a good time of when it will be finished anymore.
