Adobe DRM Error

Code: 31
Message:
Your Adobe software could not be activated.

Adobe DRM Activator error (client code 31; HTTP code -1).

How do I fix this, I can't open an eBook I've purchased with Adobe Digital Editions. This message comes when the program is authorizing the eBook.

One of the numerous error messages we are getting since installing Adobe 9.0 is: Compile error in hidden module: distmon. Any ideas what it is and how to solve it? It happens when using excel or outlook.

    Thanks!

Thanks for the information on Acrobat 8. The reason the case was open when you looked was I reopened them before I replyed to you so that may have been my fault.

Any thing that I can do regarding the clock error? I am in the UK right now; would that cause an issue?

    Cheers,

Acrobat 8 does NOT read any type of ebook content. All of that was moved into Digital Editions 1.5. So that's the correct behavior for Acrobat 8, to try to launch Digital Editions. Only Acrobat 6 and 7 read ebook content.

Your case does -not- show as closed when i look at it in our system. If you show it as closed in the web portal then that's something that we should have investigated..

However, the bigger problem is that the info given to you via the case was pretty much completely inadequate. I am going to ask a senior agent to take over..

That said, DRM errors do happen, and they can be difficult to figure out. They're definitely not all time zone/system clock/firewall issues..

All the info I have internally says that error 77 -is- a system clock problem. I'll put the senior agent on it and we'll see what can get figured out.

0180332842 is the case number. I opened the cases that they closed yet again. I am growing fairly annoyed with this. Everytime that I try and use Acrobat 8 Pro to open a book it trys to install Digital Editions. Is there a way to bypass this and just use Acrobat? Digital Editions sucks and I paid good money for Acrobat. Will Acrobat 9 bypass the need for Digital Editions?

I have opened a case. Adobe closed them without bothering to resolve the issue. How do I get my books to work?

    Hi,

I am posting here since the email support does not seem to be available anymore.

I bought on eBook, succeeded in downloading the ebx.etd file, but have been unable to open it in Digital Editions. I receive the following error message:

    Erreur Adobe DRM
    Système: 5
    Etat: 4
    Classe: 400
    Code: 41
Message: Erreur lors de la réponse du serveur.
Faites défiler l'affichage ci-dessous ou consultez le journal error.log pour plus de détails.

I am using Windows Vista, Adobe Reader 8.1.2 and Digital Editions 1.5.
I tried to desactivate my firewall but it did not change anything.
I have been trying for 2 days now so I don't think this is just a temporary server issue.

    Thanks for your help.

    Paul,

The Adobe Activation server was taken offline for maintenance yesterday for four hours. That's what caused this error. It's back up now and the error should go away.
