Question

Authorizing my nook

I have followed all the procedures for registering my nook with B&N and I also have downloaded ADE and established an Adobe ID the same as my nook's ID.  Everyplace I read I am suppose to be able to open ADE and then plug in my nook and ADE is suppose to recognize it and allow me to authorize it.  I have had no luck as ADE does not recognize my nook when I plug it into to the computer and I can't find any suggestions on how to correct this. Anybody have any ideas as to what I can do.

Thanks

tom

    Attention Jodi Ballas,

delete one of the ADE from internet explorer then reinstall and the book you borrowed will show up on there.

how do you reinstall ADE?  Others are saying that it will just reinstall when you plug the Nook into ADE on the computer, but that did not happen for me.

Can someone please help me.  I have my Nook & ADE synced together.  I have a book from the Library to download (it is acsm file) and I am not sure where I need to save the file to get it to show in the ADE.  I understand that once I can see the book and it is viewable in ADE I can drag it to my Nook where I can then read it from there.  I have been trying to figure this out for 3 days and I can't get it to work.  Any help is much apprecaited!!!!

Yes, I am using Internet Explorer.  I am usually very proficient with computers and this has me stumped!

This may have already been brought up, but i see my nook on the side pane, and all the books already on my nook, but cannot figure out how to get borders E-books on to ADE. Please help!

First you have to establish an account at Barnes and Noble by putting in your email address and select a password.  Then go to My Account at Barnes and Noble and sign in.  Next you scan books available for purchase and click on the one you wish to buy, follow instructions for check out while Nook is connected    to computer, then download to Nook.

Another big problem with B and N Nook.  One can not buy a book and pay for

it with B and N gift card.  This problem has been going on since Xmas and tech support

has been unable to work it out.  They have been promising me for weeks to charge my

purchase to my gift card and not my credit card and they are unable to come up

with the solution.  DO NOT BUY A GIFT CARD.

Thank you so much!!! I purchased nook for myself and my daughter for Christmas mainly because of the compatibility with my local library.  After several frustrating hours last night I was really regretting it.  Yours was the only advice that helped. And written in plain English to boot! Thanks again!

I did not know that Kindle does not allow you to download books from the Library.  When I had my problems

I went to the library and they had no idea how to help me download on my computer.  They advised me to go

to Barnes and Noble, who also had no idea what to do.  They are useless.

This has been fantastic help....I was at wit's end and spent way too much time trying to authorize my nook...install, uninstall, etc. ; not much help with web chat (hard to understand anyway), B&N had no clue, just said to unstall and reinstall (again)...this site has been the most valuable and FINALLY got it authorized and through one of the blogs, how to transfer to the nook...whew!!! thanks to all with their suggestions

I am so happy that my instructions helped you with the Nook.  Not a day goes by without someone thanking me.  I was so frustrated with my Nook that I wanted to return it, no one could help me, not Barnes and Noble store or the technical help.  My suggestion is not to buy it , but wait until they perfected it, or else buy a Kindle, that seems to be working without any problems.

Yes, but the Kindle does not do everything the Nook does. For example, you

cannot download e-books from the public library on a Kindle.

The books appear on my Nook but when I try to open them I get the message "User not activated".  I have deleted and reloaded ADE from my computer and the Nook following Adobe Support instructions. I spent 90 minutes doing the reload stuff with BN support who finally said it was ADE.   I eject nook before disconnecting.  I have deleted and tried new library books.... I can open and read the books in ADE on my MAC.  I can read purchased books on the nook. Any experience with this?  I think the key word is activate, the forum has a long chat about authorize, (I tried everything but taking my Nook back to factory settings by pushing the button off 6 times for 12 seconds.)  I was able to read books from the library on the Nook Color I tried and replaced with this one.  I may go trade it in.

Finally authorized my ColorNook.  Had to set firewall to allow it.  The nook is my L drive (media). I have spent days and Nook still does not appear on the ADE page.   I cannot move library books to my Nook.

Another thank you from North Florida.   The man at the Barnes and Noble bookstore did explain this to us at the class but trying to remember it all in the proper sequence just wasn't happening.  It's working perfectly now.  Thanks again.

Tom HELP... I screwed up mine.  But when I plug my nook into the USB and go to my computer there is no NOOK drive???  My husband says when he plugs our backup device into the same USB plug it comes up as G.  The computer dings and in the corner I can safely remove device.  But I can't see what's on the device if I can't find the drive????  I took the nook to BN & she plugged into her laptop and it a NOOK drive came up.  Why isn't it coming up on my computer?

Another Thanks!  It took four times to finally fix the problem, but finally the authorization for the mobile device was activated.  'Preciate it.
