Hello all in this thread. I've had the same exact problem with attempting to download epubs from Google Play Books via ADE this week (Kobo books download fine) and I've contacted Google Support Services. I had a shockingly hopeful conversation with a CSR named Jorge linking this Adobe community thread and pointing out the standoff btwn Google and Adobe and also that it's Google I've given my money to and wouldn't it be a shame if I couldn't buy books from Google ever again and they've escalated this issue to Google "Specialist" and "Engineering" departments. Awaiting an outcome. I have been promised a refund if a fix doesn't happen soon.

I tend to buy my ebooks from Google as well as they have a solid rewards program.  Would be a pity if I couldn't keep buying them from them to use on my Kobo.  I also chatted with a Google Support Specialist who said they were going to esculate it so maybe?

I'm reading books in ukraininan language and these books are available only at Google Play Books. I can't buy them anywhere else. They are not available at Kobo market. If the issue is not fixed I woudn't be able to get ebooks at all.

    This issue is huge.

I asked Google by email (googleplay-support@google.com) for a refund for the book so I can buy it at a different ebook seller and they are giving me a boilerplate reply, so far.  I mentioned this page and all the other people having this recent problem with them only, and only recent purchases and they're going way overboard on how much they are friendly and want to help.

HaHaHa! I got one of those messages, too. I felt like saying, "Quite smokin' that rock!" But, maybe when your job is what their job is, you need a little something to tide you over til the end of shift.

The same problem occurs with the EPUB file purchased on Google Play Books. The PDF works fine.

This happened to me to today when trying to open a couple of ebooks I bought from Google Play Books so I could read it on my Kobo.  Tried uninstalling ADE on my computer and reinstalling, tried downloading the ACSM again from Google Play, unauthorizing and then reauthorizing with my Adobe ID on my computer--none of it has worked.  Am so disappointed.

It's a party! This started for me a couple days ago, maybe Tues this week. I am 100% convinced this problem is at Google. Like some others, I tested by buying a book elsewhere (ebooks.com) and ADE did what is supposed to do. I'm fortunate enough to be OCD about keeping copies of everything, so I have nearly all the books I've purchased already downloaded. But there are some that I was not able to get before the error appeared, and those probably are lost to me.

No support from Adobe, and worthless support from Google. This was a blow to the forehead with  a 2-by-4: these megacorps couldn't care less about these issues. The e-reader has its uses, but I don't see the service for users improving.

I will try again to retrieve my books in a day or two, and again later, and so on. The light bulb may switch on somewhere, at some point, and the problem get fixed. It's happened before.

Yeah, same with me. I almost exclusively buy my books from Google Play, and have had no problems loading them onto my Kobo until yesterday.

Recently, I purchased 4 books and yesterday tried to put them on my Kobo. Got that error message: "License Server Communication Problem: E_ADEPT_CORE_KEY_SCRAMBLE" However, the book I bought last month, and all other previous books, can be opened without a problem.  Not sure what is going on with these newer books. I tried all of the recomendations from uninstalling to reauthorizing - I even downloaded an older version of ADE. Nothing worked. I believe this to be a Google problem, but trying to get Google to respond is futile.

where did you get an older version of ADE? The new version (.12) crashes with an "unhandled exception" on startup. For God knows what reason, I upgraded & killed my book access. 😞

    thanks.

I can't now recollect if I rolled back to an earlier edition of ADE because
of earlier issues with downloads. I am on Windows 10 operating system and I
have a download of 4.5 installer but I'm running an updated edition of
that. (I never like their updates 🙂 )

If it's compatible with your system here is a link to Windows and Apple
    downloads of 4.5.12 installers:

I've reported this issue to Google Play Support. Seeing here that Google provided no help so far, I've decidede to report the issue to Adobe. But I can't find how to do that. Does anybody have any form or email of Adobe's support?
