Hello everyone, I am interested in writing my own ebook, but I'm not sure how to actually go about writing it. Can anybody recommend the best way to write a pdf document, or at least point me in the right direction so I can learn more about how to do it? Thanks in advance for any help.

I would recommend Open Office by Sun Microsystems.  It is free and you can write your Ebook with hyperlinks and easily convert it into

a PDF with just a few clicks.

You can convert your document in TextEdit or TextWrangler
or other applications by clicking the PRINT - and then choose
SAVE AS PDF. (Apple Macintosh running OS X)

I thought that Adobe files are inherently difficult to copy from?

I normally create PDFs via adobe pdf writer.Interpersonal Communication Skills

Not to be the bearer of bad news, but make sure that whatever application your choose, free or otherwise has the ability to embedd links into your ebook in the way you want them embedded.  I only say this because most people write ebooks with the intent to distribute for some profitable purpose.  I agree free is always a nice way to go, but only if it does what you want.  Vans

Is there any way that you can construct a document in word 2003 and convert this into a pdf document and not be made copyable by the end user?

Any comments or ideas would be most welcome thanks

Sites like 123fileconvert dot com convert pdf to word if you need this, they seem to have a free trial at the moment.

When dealing with .docx file, I use the free add-in of office 2007. It can saveasPDF from word, excel, powerpoint.

When dealing with .doc file,  I use googledocs. Just upload and download file in pdf format.

There are also other free resources here at: http://www.anypdftools.com/free-word-to-pdf-creator.html#153

    Hope that helps!

    All this information is helpful

    Thank's to everyone.
