Hello everyone, I am interested in writing my own ebook, but I'm not sure how to actually go about writing it. Can anybody recommend the best way to write a pdf document, or at least point me in the right direction so I can learn more about how to do it? Thanks in advance for any help.

Open Office is a terrific piece of software for those looking to create their own pdf files. As mentioned, it is free and very easy to use.

You'll be creating pdf documents in no time!

A great way to create free pdf is a free program called pdf995. You can find it on Google.

another vote for open office from me. it's unbelievably versatile, allowing you to save your documents in about 20 different formats including pdf.

If you're using a Mac, just go under PRINT, then select PDF. It's very simple. Best of luck!

Thanks Carlton. I just tried your method and it works !!!

I just purchased a new HP all-in-one printer. The manual mentions of printing a document in pdf format - how does this work? Do any of you know?

    Thanks

    Hi all.

I had no idea that Open Office could save PDF files.

this might be a good way forward as I've had problems with "free" alternatives before....changes in formating, water marking etc.

    Cheers

I have used several ways to create my ebooks etc in the past. For the life of me I have checked a number of times and call me an idiot but I always get confused when I come to the adobe site as to which product I am supposed to by to convert into PDF's.

Anyway, something I just discovered yesterday is that microsoft actually do a free add on for word that allows you convert your documents from word to pdf. If you go the the Microsoft website and look for updates or add on's for word you should be able to find it.

Of cause the main stipulation is that you have a valid microsoft word product and they will check that before they allow you to download the add on.
