Artwork/Graphic Layers Being Removed from Models on Save

Hello,

Wondering if anyone else has been running into this glitch with the most recent version of Dimension (v4.1.1) but a good majority of the files that I work with will remove my graphic layers entirely on all of the models in my file when I save my document. I've also tried "Save As..." a new file entirely in a new location and I still run into the issue.

Like I said, I'm using Dimension v4.1.1 and I'm on a MacBook Pro 16-inch running the Sequoia 15.2 OS.

Thanks!

Hi levis65501741,

Did you manage to solve this issue? I'm struggling with this too. It happens when i change the object material, then save the file. Generating new UV's destroys the graphic placement so is not an option.

Interestingly, a duplicated object on my last save retained all the graphics but removed them from the initial object.

I have not, unfortunately. I've noticed that the issue seems to arise with models that I initially created in previous versions of Dimension (pre-Shaper driver being used) where graphic files just disappear on Save or Save As. This doesn't really help either of us, but depending on how many objects you have, it may be worth creating a "new" version of your model where you pull in the .obj file into the newest version of Dimension and go from there. I can't verify that this will solve the issue as it's not entirely feasible for me and my team since we had created ~1,000 models that we need to swap graphics on with decent regularity.

Are files created with  (v4.1.1) previously with previous versions or are composed with new version?

Hi Ares, most of these have been composed with a previous version of Dimension.

The issue might be related to the UV Mapping of your object. If your model doesn't have a proper UV map, Adobe Dimension may struggle to correctly apply and retain decals when saving. Here are a couple of solutions:

1. Generate a UV Map: In Adobe Dimension, select your object and generate a UV map. This ensures that the decal has a proper surface to adhere to.
2. Check Your Model's UVs: If you created the object in another software (like Blender or Photoshop), make sure it has a UV map before importing it into Dimension.
3. Use Smart UV Mapping in Blender: If you're using Blender, apply the Smart UV Project before exporting your model as an `.obj` file.
4. Try Different File Formats: Some users have reported issues with `.fbx` files. If your decal isn't working, try exporting your model as an `.obj` file instead.
