p.s, 1 more tip... where you put your points matter and each object is different but remember to turn your bottles around in Photoshop to see it from different angles before exporting it
Thanks for the complement Graham - I think you meant "DOG" though 🙂
You can easily make a round bottle in Photoshop from a circular extrusion - just draw half of it with the pen tool. Don't forget to draw the path as the inside and outside of the glass area - a bottle is hollow not a solid lump of glass. When extruding I find setting depth to 0 (which actually gives a tiny value of -0.1) is the best you can do. Apply the glass material to all the extrusion surfaces or you will get a visible join at 0 degrees and 360 degrees
All that said I am indeed going to advise you to use a proper 3D application. The bottle you show is a square with rounded corners, moving smoothly to a circular neck at the top with a screw thread added. All that is fairly easy to model in a proper 3D application such as Blender and almost impossible to model accurately with the limited 3D functions in Photoshop.
ok the first point is that this is the Dimension forum and for {good} Photoshop 3D help you want to goto the Photoshop forum and talk to Dave because when it comes to teaching 3D he is GOD!
I assume he will tell you to forget about Photoshop and learn Blender instead but he will be a lot more PC about it than I will
Adobe Illustrator is ok for making fast objects because you get a nice smooth edge but there are 3 pitfalls to using that software' it doesn't like lines unless they are closed [will in fact auto close Svg files] so worthless for glass [because you see the lines but ok for metal etc
Adobe Photoshop = old software but my goto and just better
cut the bottle shape out, removing backgrounds and other parts like the lid
for a bottle you want to keep the top open and have about 5 mm edge... I use the wand but other tools like the pen are fine as well
tip smooth edge = path, pixels i.e just the image will give you a ruff outside edge instead... remember the last bottle example
tip, Photoshop [unlike Blender] is a image tool so zero extrustion = a thin edge on your glass bottle that can be seen in Dimension... ime a 0.1 extrustion gives much better results but I include both in my example files
tip, make your bottle round i.e, X + Z = the same... not almost ime doing this in Photoshop gives better results than trying to fix it later
extrustion = UV map goes on the edge i.e, worthless for bottles and Illustrator defaults to making the inside instead of the out... both of these can be fixed after by making a new UV map in Dimension but ime Photoshop does a better job and I tend to make my UV map there
p.s, whatever software made your example image did not make a standard Jpeg so Photoshop will not be able to open it... I converted the image to Png but many people don't know how to get around problems like that and it can loose you clients if they can't open your files
