hi All,

Does anyone know if you have to charge tax on photo work?  In my case i like to fix old pics and send them back to the customer for a fee.

but i dont know if i am required to charge the customer tax.

In the UK you’d charge tax (VAT) at 20% on all goods and services, unless your total business income is less than the threshold per year. But you could also reclaim VAT on all your business purchases. But anyway, ask your accountant.

If you don't reach the threshhold you can also still be VAT registered voluntarily - its a matter of weighing up the pros and cons and see which situation suits you best.

This isn't a problem with the Adobe software. You have to check this at the appropriate local tax office in your country.

Every country has different laws and regulations in this regard.

My System: Intel i7-8700K - 64GB RAM - NVidia Geforce RTX 3060 - Windows 11 Pro 25H2 -- LR-Classic 15 - Photoshop 27 - Nik Collection 9 - PureRAW 6 - Topaz Photo AI

Make that every STATE, COUNTY and municipality has different tax laws.   This is something you must check at the local level.

Where I live, there is no State tax on service but there is tax on tangible goods.  In other States, it's the complete opposite.  So it could matter a great deal where your customer lives, where you live and if you send your customers prints or digital files.

So is this defined as a service?
