Question

I bought your Adobe Photoshop Elements 14 and it has has worked perfectly until now. Now I get a message saying I have installed it too many times (I have only installed it 2 times)

They don't support it anymore.  They told me to reach out to the Adobe Community for help because they can't help me.  Can anyone help me with this issue?

    The "Activation limit reached" error occurs because Adobe's licensing system registered your laptop's re-formatted hard drive as a completely new device, effectively consuming your second allowed activation. Because Photoshop Elements 14 is a legacy, non-subscription product, Adobe support agents can no longer manually reset activation counts. To resolve this, you must either find an old computer that still holds your original activation, launch the software, and choose Help > Deactivate, or you can attempt an offline activation by temporarily disconnecting your internet to bypass the stuck online server prompt. If neither option is available, the licensing block on the software is unfortunately permanent, and you would need to look into a newer version of the software.

    @jason533

    reformatting does not cause an activation issue.  and offline activation won’t help with an excess activation count issue.

    Have you made any hardware changes (hard drive, mobo, RAM, etc.)?

    If so, it may be seen as a different computer.

    Bob  I bought a new laptop in 2024 and installed the Adobe Photoshop Elements 14.  Since then I have not changed anything and it has been working fine.  Last night I got the message it won’t work.

    @Help Seeker

    something had to occur to trigger and adobe check of your license.  so, your info is perplexing, but in the end, doesn’t matter.  once that message is received you are stuck.

    you have to reactivate and with an excess activation count message your only option is to use a computer that current still has one of your activations (and that meets adobe’s security requirements) and deactivate that.

    you must use a computer that has a current activation (and meets adobe’s security requirements) to restore an activation.  there’s no other way to recover an activation.

    More information added I took for granted.  Still seeking Help.    I purchased adobe photoshop elements 14, years ago and installed it on a laptop.  After several years the hard drive started going bad. So I deleted many software programs, including the Elements 14.  I bought a new laptop and installed the CD on the new laptop.   In January  I spilled wine on the keyboard and had to send it in to LG for cleaning. While at LG they re-formatted the hard drive. In March, I needed to reinstall Elements 14 (I did not mention this before because it is still the same computer with same ID) therefore I considered it the same 2ed install.  It accepted the install but now tells me I exceeded 2 installs and won't run.  AI tells me I can't install the CD on my original laptop now either so I can deactivate it from that laptop.   Does this new information help in fixing the problem?
