Installation problem with Premiere Pro 5.5 I'm using Mac OS 10.8.5 and getting this error message: "Install" can't be opened. You should eject the disk image.

The previous questions I've seen answered point out that newer Operating systems don't work with CS5.5, but I'm using Mac OS 10.8.5 (Mountain Lion).

Correct answer DelphiZoa

Hi Paul,

The first thing I would try is downloading a fresh copy of Premiere Pro 5.5 and trying to install from that: Download Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 products.

If that doesn't resolve the issue, this forum thread shows some fixes for a similar error: Illustrator CS5 re-install error: Install.app can't be opened.  The correct answer doesn't apply, since you are on 10.8 not 10.7 (though checking Gatekeeper is always a good idea to ensure it's not blocking something). However, some of the other suggested solutions, such as checking the installation path in Terminal, may be applicable.

Let us know if any of that helps.

Hi DelphiZoa,

I did download a fresh copy of Premiere Pro 5.5.

I also tried checking entering this in Terminal, as recommended in that other thread you mentioned.

xattr -c /Users/******/Downloads/PremierePro_5_5_LS7.dmg

Checked my security and privacy settings too.

Unfortunately, none of this allowed me to install the file. Any other ideas?

Thanks,  Paul

Tried checking the installation path in Terminal again and it worked this time.

Many thanks!
