Installing Creative Cloud-Error 205

Tried installing Creative Cloud to a laptop running windows 7 64 bit. Windows firewall is turned off and there is no virus scanning running. I can download the file but when I run the downloaded Creative Cloud Setup File I get the error "there seems to be a problem with the downloaded file... error code 205". I have tried it both wirelessly and connected to my home network. I have tried running the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool. I have tried rebooting the computer but in all cases I get the same error.

To be clear I can download the file but when I run it the dialog comes up Initializing Installer and then I get the error code 205 message. Tried both Internet Explorer and Chrome. Same result.

Any other ideas?

DONT USE MICROSOFT EDGE when downloading Adobe CC Apps! It was giving me an error P205 and 201.  I switched the default browser to Chrome and it downloaded easily and right away.

Hello everyone. Today I  had the same problem but finally found a solution with the vpn changing. I am from Turkey and reconnected to USA service totally solved my problem. I used Tunnelbear but I do believe it doesn't matter which app or service you use. Hope that would help. Greetings...

try rightclick on the setup file, click "Run as administrator".

    It should solve the problem.

I am on a fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit on a brand new hard drive. I have installed NO Antivirus, antimalware or any kind of security at all yet. I only only installed my video drives, my ethernet control, all windows updates, iE11 and Firefox and i continue to get 205 error. This is very annoying especially after reading so many people claiming this is a security software issue.

I need a solution that will work.

    I found a solution.

Windows made the Owner of my C drive and all its content "TrustedInstaller"  I changed ownership to me (the admin) on the drive and all content. CC installed without a hitch.

    Maybe this will help others

Here is the FIX... I had the same problem as so many of you. After 12 hours trying everything I could find online I ultimately got a online chat with a pretty sharp Adobe tech via chat. He connected to my screen and tried all kinds of stuff that did not work until he gave me some backdoor link to directly download PS, LR, and bridge, They are huge files and it took some time to DL, extract, and install but I have them all. He was on my PC for two hours so it was not a quick fix but it is fixed. I know it sounds crazy but it is actually some sort of network issue. So, don't spend hours trying to figure it out yourself. Get a chat or call Adobe for the direct download and hope to get someone as good as I did.

I had the same tech experience for the last 4 months until I was given a direct link to download.  It worked but does not bode well for Adobe image when the normal process of download/update must be bypassed to work. Thanks for your info since it reinforces my experience. Complaints to Adobe do not seem   to have an effect on  them.

We use Cisco Cloud Web Security and it appears that files that are part of this installer might be getting blocked under malware, PUA, Corrupt files.

I had to reformat my hard drive, and when installing CC, I had the 205 error. Tried all the solutions: disabled McAffee; even tried uninstalling McAffee completely, put my desktop outside my router firewall, used the cleaner tool, a new user account, tried the root administrator account, nothing worked.  Adobe support spent 2 hours trying different things; zero help. Level 2 support failed also. They gave me a couple of things to try, useless.

So I gave up,  and installed Steam so at least I could play a game to get my mind off of this mess.  Steam installed fine, but the updated wouldn't finish.  Steam support told me (first try) that I needed to update my wireless driver.  I did, and presto, no problems.  I wondered if this was causing my 205 Adobe error also, and it turns out, it was.  The confusing bit is I installed lots of other applications, downloaded updates, all worked fine.  Apparently Steam uses the same validation techniques as Adobe, but unlike Adobe, their support actually knows what they are doing.  Apparently the root of the issue is something on Microsoft's end, so this problem could affect any brand of wireless.

If you have the 205 error, try updating your wireless driver.

I just find a way out to error 205 installing adobe CC.

In my case i tried to install it on my Standard Account permissions... even "open as administrator" didn't work, but I just make a new USER windows account with administration permissions, and it works !

    Hopefully it helps.

I did the exact same thing, after hours of closing my firewall; deleting my firewall software; trying the installation again; having it not work; and then having to reload my firewall software.  Creating a new user and then running the software again, it worked perfectly.  Thank you for your solution.

This thread is a bit old so perhaps for some it's no longer a problem. But even creating a new user didn't work for me. My work-around is to download the latest version of Adobe Application Manager. The manager doesn't run on its own, but if you open Photoshop, Dreamweaver, or the CC app of your choice, go to Help > Updates... and the Application Manager will open, search for updates, then allow you to install them. You won't be notified of updates, so I simply check every week or so.
