Question

Kernel Panic installing any app under Windows Server 2019

Howdy!

I'm disabled and futzing around with my computers since arriving home from rehab is difficult from my wheelchair. To this end getting my primary dev machine back up hasn't worked so I turned to the planned upgrade of my Server to 2019. Creative Could wouldn't install under 2008r2 and I hoped this would solve my inability to access the apps I've continued to pay for but have been unable to use for a year.

Creative Cloud installed fine. I then went to install Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat and got a blue screen of death KERNAL_PANIC. After reboot I tried just Acrobat and at around 4% BSOD all over again.

I've had no problems installing Office, Dropbox, a variety of development tools, even VidCoder. Why won't Adobe's apps that I pay for install?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Chris

Just a quick update that I am still unable to install any Creative Cloud apps other than Creative Cloud itself. The blue screen error has chnged:

KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE

I also wanted to add that competing products such as Serif Affinity Photo install and run fine on Windows Server 2019. That was a one-time purchase that was less expensive than the monthly tab Adobe charges me.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I searched before creating this post and read those threads. The bottom line seemed that if you already had an older version of the Creative Cloud app installed it would upgrade and continue to work. This seemed to make no sense in the light of the error I was getting which is of course difficult to diagnose given the lack of conventional installers for anything other than Creative Cloud itself.

Windows Server 2019 is considered a version of Windows 10 in terms of compatibility. Back when I built this machine on Windows Server 2008r2 I was able to install Adobe apps with no problem. However the days of running on a mechanical boot drive had left me with a 3 minute startup so I needed to switch to a SSD. Dealing with minor capacity differences seems to be an ongoing issue so I took the shorter route of installing from scratch. Now I was in the position where I couldn't install Creative Cloud itself, getting an abort dialog.

Switching to 2019 the other day seemed like the solution. I was now comfortably in the Windows 10 ecosystem that Adobe requires, and I was able to install Creative Cloud fine. If Windows Server 2019 isn't supported shouldn't have I been disqualified as I was with 2008r2.

I understand this is a user supported forum just had hoped to find someone successfully using CC apps under 2019 who may have already gotten past this problem. I will try the the Adobe chat but am expecting a "if it's not on our supported operating systems page you're out of luck". And no matter how many protestations that every other program installs and works fine on 2019 I make they won't care.

Kernel panic means the Kernel, a driver or the hardware has a fault. You need to diagnose which, starting with the panic error code. You may need to involve Microsoft.

Most Creative Cloud apps work on Windows 10 versions 21H2, 21H1, 20H2, 2004, and 1909 (LTSB branches are not supported);

If you're not using Creative Cloud, please tell us which product and version you're using.

Good luck with your rehab.  😍
