Lightroom 6 on Windows 10 Installation Error

Lightroom 6 installation fails on Windows 10 with the following error:

Exit Code: 7

Please see specific errors below for troubleshooting. For example,  ERROR: DW062 ...

System Requirements

I have tried creating a new user, installing in Safe Mode, repairing Microsoft Visual C++, uninstalling Microsoft Visual C++, installing the most recent version of Microsoft Visual C++, running the Set-Up as an Administrator, and various other "fixes".  When I try installing in Safe Mode, the following error displays:

System Requirements

I have a multiple hard drive set-up; the main drive is an SSD, with the user files located on other drives.  I have placed the Installation files on the main drive, though.  My previous copy of Lightroom worked on my Windows 10 build--I only began seeing this problem after a fresh Windows install on the new SSD.  Since I paid $142 for a license, I'd like to use this software, but I'll switch to a free program if I have to.  Very frustrating.  By the way, I have searched around these forums, and the internet in general before posting.

I was able to chat with an Adobe Representative today (finally).  After a few hours, he had me Run Command Prompt with Administrator privileges, and create a new Administrator Account using the command

Net user administrator /active:yes


Once I did that, I restarted several times and logged in under the new Administrator account and installed Lightroom successfully.  I logged back into my previous account and opened Lightroom successfully.  Though, I did have to update from Lightroom Mobile Trial version to the full licensed version by clicking on Lightroom Help > Updates.


Only took about 2 weeks...  But thanks for your attention.

I was able to chat with an Adobe Representative today (finally).  After a few hours, he had me Run Command Prompt with Administrator privileges, and create a new Administrator Account using the command

Net user administrator /active:yes


Once I did that, I restarted several times and logged in under the new Administrator account and installed Lightroom successfully.  I logged back into my previous account and opened Lightroom successfully.  Though, I did have to update from Lightroom Mobile Trial version to the full licensed version by clicking on Lightroom Help > Updates.


Only took about 2 weeks...  But thanks for your attention.

    That is built in Hidden Administrator account which has special permissions to files and folder access.

    If everything is working fine under your regular user account , you may disable it by running command again.

    Brucgovn‌, yes I have repaired, uninstalled and re-installed all versions of Microsoft Visual C++ from 2008 to 2015, to include both x86 and x64 versions.  I have done this no less than 3 times, before and after a clean Windows 10 install.  I will try again uninstalling them, downloading and re-installing them once more, just to ensure I didn't misstep.

    Okay, also let us know , whether you had installed any other Adobe apps on your comp.

    Brucgovn‌, this is what I did today:

    -Uninstalled Adobe Lightroom (leftovers from the failed installations)

    -Uninstalled Adobe Reader (to ensure it wasn't causing conflicts)

    -Deleted contents from Program Files (x86)/Common Files/Adobe

    -Uninstalled all Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Packages 2015, 2013, 2012, 2010, 2008 (x64 and x86)

    -Restarted (twice, just for laughs)

    -Re-installed Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 and 2013 (both x86 and x64) directly from the Microsoft support site

    -Installed Microsoft Visual C++ 2012, 2010, and 2008 (again, both x86 and x64) from the Payloads folder in the Lightroom install folder

    -Navigated back to the Microsoft site to ensure there weren't updated Service Packs for Microsoft Visual C++ 2012, 2010, and 2008 (there weren't)

    -Restarted

    -Executed the Lightroom Setup, chose "Install", signed in using my Adobe ID, and entered the license key

    -The installation failed once again, with the same error message

    I've been all over the internet, and even talked to people at work, but I can't seem to make any headway.

    Is there really no other recourse here?  Am I expected to just let Adobe saunter off with my $142 for an unusable license?  There is no chat or phone support for this issue.  I have tried everything I can think, even performing a clean install of Windows, and I still cannot install Lightroom.  Am I the crazy one here???

    I have tried all the mentioned "fixes" once before, but just for a laugh, I tried them again.  The installation is still failing, with the same error messages.  Just to be clear; I ran System File Checker with no errors found and I uninstalled all versions of Microsoft Visual C++ and re-installed the most current version (2013).

    Download and install Visual C++ 2013 package . both x86 as well x64.

    Also run System File Checker command once :

    install the latest visual c++ (i believe it's 2014) from ms.
