Question

Spontaneous Eraser Tool

Something that I've noticed over the past few years, first just in Flash, but lately I'm seeing it in Illustrator a lot too, is when you've been using it for a while and whatever tool you're using converts into being the eraser tool.  Sometimes you can select something else and go back to what you actually wanted, but sometimes you can't.  Sometimes I've had to quit out of the application entirely to get the proper tools working again, and if you wind up erasing something without realizing it, it can be problematic.  Most of the time this isn't too big of a deal, just annoying.  But I'm wondering how commonly this happens to others, and if there's a setting somewhere that I could change to stop encountering it.

Thanks,
~Sara

Giving this a bump as it appears to have been buried under new update difficulties.

Also, would really appreciate this going back to the Creative Cloud folder where I initially posted it, KanikaS as it is not an Illustrator specific issue.

Your question may not be application specific but if you want a greater response, I suggest making it application specific and posting in the Illustrator forum.

This Cloud forum gets more response to broader questions.

In the product forums, you're more likely to find people engaging with every detail of your question.

Thanks, but I didn't really get any further in the Illustrator forum either.  It would appear that no one here knowns what's going on with this one.  Thank you for responding though.

Moving to Illustrator

Please don't move this to the Illustrator category, KanikaS.  It has happened most often in Flash/Animate, but also in After Effects, and I believe I've seen it in Photoshop as well.  It's actually somewhat new that I'm now seeing it more in Illustrator.  But it is definitely an across the cloud issue.
