Question

Will Adobe ever get a fully compatible Linux version.

I have been a leading Adobe consultant in the European fashion industry for over 22 years. In recent years, European countries and companies have been rapidly shifting toward open-source operating systems like Linux. The reason is simple: the U.S. is no longer seen as a reliable partner.

While Adobe continues to expand its web-based applications, and yes, there are many open-source alternatives to various Adobe products, desktop applications like Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign remain indispensable for professional users.

Europe’s digital infrastructure is transforming at an unprecedented pace. It won’t be long before Linux’s market share grows significantly. Adobe, too, is a U.S.-based software company, but its products are not as critical as the operating system itself for Europeans considering a switch to Linux.

In my opinion, Adobe could survive Europe’s movement away from U.S. services if it opens up to a Linux port soon. For European countries and businesses, the focus isn’t on abandoning all U.S. services but rather on reducing dependence on the most critical ones—such as computer operating systems and possibly mobile OS (like Sailfish Phone OS).

You might think I’m being extreme, but if you follow the news daily, you’ll understand: Europeans no longer want to be part of—or dependent on—that country.

    Thank you for posting, @Onnozel.

I appreciate your continued use of our services and your strong advocacy for making our software available on additional platforms.

I can understand why you're asking, especially if you're seeing increased interest in Linux within your industry and among the organizations you work with.

Adobe has not announced plans for fully supported Linux versions of desktop applications such as Photoshop, Illustrator, or InDesign. Because of that, no one in the community can reliably say whether or when Linux versions might become available.

If you'd like to share your feedback directly with the product teams, I recommend posting your request in the Creative Cloud Desktop Feature Requests community, where feature suggestions and platform requests can be submitted and discussed:

    https://community.adobe.com/feature-requests-603

While Adobe continues to expand web-based experiences for some workflows, desktop Creative Cloud applications currently support Windows and macOS. For the latest platform requirements, see:

Thank you for taking the time to share your perspective and explain the business impact that Linux support could have for professional users. Your feedback helps Adobe better understand how platform support decisions affect different communities and workflows, @Onnozel.
