Hello, I used Dreamweaver 2015 for a very long time. I spoke with an adobe rep and they told me I needed to update. The new version of Dreamweaver 2018 trys to do so much for you that it slows you down if you know how to code..I am tried to disable code hints and that did not work..Is there a way to disable all features so I can write the code the way I want and just use the FTP with it..

I'm struggling with the drop down menu. The drop down menu list is okey and gray when I hover over it. But where it says "routes" it's only half gray. How to fix this?

I have a site in dreamweaver cs5 ive been using for many years.I created a new folder under the root directory, then tried to save as a page to that new sub diri got a pop up asking if i want to update links, i said yes of coursebut the page is a mess. has no css formatting, all the nav is all over the place, i thought when it said "update links" it meant just thatobviously not. Please tell me what i am doing wrong, what is the correct procedure for saving as a page to new sub dir??

I don't quite know how to frame this and it may already be answered, if so just link to the answer. I am trying iframes for the first time. Basically most of the pages on my site have a menu at the bottom of the page that points to different pages on my site, and that menu needs to be the same across pages. I currently copy and paste the contents in the window to the next page etc. and that works fine. However I have dozens of pages and changing all of them when I change the contents of the menu is a real PITA. So I created a page with just the contents of the menu. I can create an iframe that shows that menu page without any problems. I made the frame size fit the contents of the menu page. However if it's smaller than the menu page it shows scrollbars. a size that makes one scroll across or down to see the entire contents. I don't want that to happen, and I need it to dynamically change the size to fit the contents of the menu page if that page size changes. I can play with the width

A design I'm working on requires a couple of words to be displayed sideways, along the margin. The text also needs to be oversized (8em).I tried it with the following code :div.text { transform: rotate(-90deg); position: absolute; font-family: "Six Caps"; text-align: right; font-size: 9em; text-transform: uppercase; z-index: 1; top: 0; Left: 0;}However, I quickly realized that simply PLACING oversized text is a nightmare, because it'll explode out of the containing div in unpredictable ways (half the word will bust out of its container; and not in any particular direction, either -- all 4 of them).So I had to compensate by changing this :div.text { transform: rotate(-90deg); position: absolute; font-family: "Six Caps"; text-align: right; font-size: 9em; text-transform: uppercase; z-index: 1; margin: 148px 0 0 -100px;}This pushes the overflow back into view on top, while eliminating a margin I couldn't find any explanation for on the left. When I add a word to the personal dictionary, it is not retained. Using "ignore all" retains the word for the remainder of the current spelling check, but then I have to use "ignore all" the next time the word is in a document.Knowing where the personal dictionary is stored might be helpful, but I don't see information about file locations in Preferences. I'm hoping that somebody else has solved this problem and can provide guidance. Thought I was going mad. Has anyone else had there hosting service revert one of their websites to a previous version WITHOUT informing them??Could not work out what was going on because parts on the live site resembled nothing like what was on the locally built site which was the last version updated. Even the 'include' folder on the remote server was missing. Of course I updated a page on the local server and uploaded it but huge parts of the design/content were missing UNTIL I eventually realised there was no include folder on the remote server. On closer inspection I then noticed some of the text was different, css styles different, obviously which had been updated at a later stage. I have zero idea what went on without my knowledge, whether there was a hack or meltdown that the host was too embarressed to inform me of but this is unacceptable, right?Any one else have a similar hosting horror story?

I am reading your new book Dreamweaver For Dummies and saw in your book that you discuss WordPress and CS5. I purchased CS5 to work with WordPress and have yet to successfully get it working with my various WordPress installations. I am not a real developer and would prefer to not create a local test environment but to work with Dreamweaver directly with the installation I have on a hosting account with GoDaddy.It is close to working, but I get an error message about the connection to the database. The FTP access works properly. I can sync the files. Does this have anything with logging into the SQL database? Can you point me to some troubleshooting tips for the initial connection to WordPress and Dreamweaver? Everything I find, read, or watch makes it look so simple and nonproblematic. . . Thanks

Hi.Can anyone please direct me to a good tutorial to teach me how to add buttons with a sub-mnu list of links to a website...I have CC and the latest Dreamweaver, but I have no idea how to do this in the latest version.In CS6, there are some notes to help me...But, using 2018 CC, the sub-menu does not seem to show up to either work or to show in the properties bar....Thanks in advance...Glen.

I use DW 2014.1. I created a template with an editable region for the text. The text is now being translated to different languages, so on the template, I need to add an editable region on the right with tabs for different languages. Here's one of my pages : Commentary 9 The new region would look like an address book with alphabetical tabs on the side. Please help ! Thanks ! Carol

Yes, yes, I know that CC2019 is the current version, but my copy of Classroom in a Book is for 2018, so I'm going to hold off until I have the site rebuilt and *then* I'll upgrade. And hope that I can still find my tools.Background info; some five years ago I had to move an ancient GoLive site into Dreamweaver. At that point the current version was CS6. I redesigned and rebuilt the site and have been maintaining it using CS6 since then. It works, it isn't broken, and when I finally downloaded and installed CC (in 2016 I think, maybe 2017) I opened it up and couldn't find anything I was used to so I gave that up as a bad job. I don't like it when people mess with my tools.Well, my next computer is going to be running Mojave and I'm not sure that CS6 is going to run on it. I remember getting one of those snotty alert messages telling me that "The program is not optimized for your Mac" the first time I launched it after I upgraded to High Sierra. Returning to web building after a few years off, I thought displaying a div with a consistent aspect ratio across all viewport sizes would be a piece of cake. After all, we can animate almost anything now, which was just a dream when I left HTML behind.However, Googling only the past year of results for up-to-date advice yields disappointing results that essentially amount to using equations like "padding-top: 54.309450094%" with accompanying warnings that maintaining the aspect ratio of a div is probably more trouble than it's worth.Is it? Should I just drop this idea and go another direction with the layout?

Hello All,Good evening!Please has anyone had this issue before. If yes, please kindly assist me.  I am trying to filter out ONLY all members that have not registered for the current year. All members in the register table have been registered in the previous years; 2015, 2016 and 2017 and there registration details are stored in the validated table. Now some of them have registered in 2018. The issue here is that after registering a member for the current year which is 2018, I want the system to filter out and list ONLY those that have not been registered for the current year so it will be easy for the registrars to register only those that has not been registered for the current year. So I wrote the SQL statement below but its not given me the correct listing. When a user accesses a new web page I check if the user has logged in and if not they are redirected to a login page. On successful login they are directed back to the original page. This worked perfectly in version18 and works in the wild. In version 19 Live View shows the login page correctly but after login the original page is not displayed rather the login page is re-displayedFor now I have reverted to version 18 but would like to have access to the new features of version 19.

I do very little programming. A couple of years ago I used CS6 to create a personal website that had a FAQs page of questions with links to answer pages. Each link had a leading named anchor so when the answer page was displayed it showed all the questions but started at the question line. This week I updated the site with two new pages. I created the same line structure as before -   <li><a id="civil"></a><a href="faqs_civil.html#civil">Can Civil Action be Brought Against Me?</a></li>All the original links work properly. The two new links only go to the top of the new page instead of the named anchor on the new page.Also, after the first creation didn't work I deleted the line and started again. DW said the previous "name" was already used and I had to use "name2". Next time I had to use "name3". Where are these coming from if I delete the original line?In my search I read something about a Table of Contents and something else about a List
