After reading a bit about JavaFX Script (which is actually remarkebly close to ActionScript 3) as a developer I thought the way one can specify the GUI declaratively in JavaFX Script via JSON-like notation for the components is pretty cool. It would be nice to have something like that in Flex/ActionScript too. The advantages I see over MXML are: 1) a more compact notation than XML which is nice from a developers view point who actually writes this kind of code. Of course the idea would be that designers still design the GUI with graphical tools that generate this code but if you have to dive in and edit the code it's nice not to have to deal with verbose XML and I think even designers can easily understand JSON-like code; don't just assume that designers love XML because HTML was based on SGML! I'm not so sure if today many designers really still know raw HTML that well (like in 1997, the early days...). Server side developers probably know it better because they have to adapt it to j

Hello I have Flex Builder 3 and have been using Director and Flash for ages. Can anybody point me towards any FLEX 3 + AS3 code useage that builds Adobe Acrobat "Academic Library Facilities" e.g. Organiser into a Fully functioning website. I have chased the Adobe Acrobat Library SDK all around the Adobe site and through Google but I am still feeling that I have to work it out for myself. Help. Hi, I would like to know if it's possible to dispatch event from module for example "M1" and listen this event to call the corresponding command but in an other module "M2". Knowing that M1 produces an swf "SWF1" and M2 produces an other swf "SWF2". For example : In the view of a module M1, I should have this statement : CairngormEventDispatcher.getInstance().dispatchEvent(new MyClassEvent(parm)); know in module "M2" I would like to know how to recover this event and then executing command corresponding to this event. I'd like to remove the execute method from ICommand. Pro: We can declare the execute method with the concrete event class. No need to upcast the CairngormEvent inside execute. //currently public void execute( event : CairngormEvent ) : void { var concreteEvent : ConcreteEvent = event as ConcreteEvent; } //with ICommand being a marker interface public void execute( event : ConcreteEvent ) : void { //no need for a cast here } Contra: We loose the compile time check for the execute method being implemented. Thoughts?
