Framemaker 2015UnstructuredOkay... I'm looking through posts (and other online sources) to figure out what I need to do, but am hoping that getting info straight from the horse's mouth might work best (that is, save me from doing lots of things incorrectly).I have several Framemaker books, each containing multiple documents.Some of these docs books use conditional text to generate from 2-4 variants.We've been pretty faithful at using our defined paragraph and character styles throughout.We've always generated to .pdf, but for these docs, we want to get them onto our .io site to be consumed online rather than as pdf.So... what is the recommended process for doing this, for short-term gain (for current batch of documents), and long-term (for new documents yet to be created)?Can I accomplish this with unstructured Frame, or do I have to convert into structured (which I haven't used)?(Note: I didn't want to jump down a process and get to a point where I have to shout 'HELP! I'M DROWNING!'

Dear all,In my script I have set up this notification:Notification (Constants.FA_Note_PostActiveDocChange, true);  I have now noticed that this is also triggered (executing the Note function) in the following situation:Script is active in a dialgogue, which stays open (is palette). It remembers the 'current' location in the user document to be able to restore it after changes in the document by the script.I switch to the document and do some text editing. Normally I do not need a screen refresh and can then proceed to the palette of the script.If I do a screen refresh (CTRL +l) the notification triggers and the script restores the last 'current location'. In most cases this is the start of the document.My questions are:Is a sceen referesh really a 'change in the document' and thus the behaviour correct?Or is this my mis-interpetation of FA_Note_PostActiveDocChange ?Or am I the victim of an unsharp defintion of FA_Note_PostActiveDocChange ?Thanks for any thoughts about this.Klaus

I have just submitted bug   # 4171402 having to do with tables that have n columns in Microsoft Word but 2n - 1 columns when I open the Word document in FM 2015. In other words, FM adds one fewer columns than the number of columns in the original table. The extra columns are blank and appear at the right side of the table.The problem occurs with tables in which the first row straddles (spans) all columns. (In the original document, the first row contains the table title, but I can duplicate the problem with tables that contain no text).It seems that if the Word table has n columns, FM makes sure that the first row contains n cells, even if the first cell straddles n columns.If I open the Word document in Word, save it as RTF, and open the RTF in FM, the number of columns is correct. Saving as RTF is an extra step in a process that I would prefer the users in this project not have to take.I have not tested these documents with earlier versions of FM.    --Lynne

Wondering if Framemaker has a global search and replace function for undoing initial caps in sentences. I vaguely remember Word being able to do this, but it's been some time since I've used Word. I've inherited a document where the author used init caps on nearly everything.

When I perform the following functions, the files open as separate files instead of opening in the application itself.1) Open FrameMaker Book. 2) Select all the files listed in the book3) Right click and select OpenThe files open but instead of appearing neatly in the Document Tab (), they open as individual files. When I hover over the application in my desktop taskbar, there are several documents open. Why is this happening? How can I fix this? Thank you!

Dear all,I have a problem at exporting my FrameMaker book to HTML5. I work with structured FrameMaker (Version 2015). The export works well and the result is as expected. But only the table of content not. Either I can expand folders which are named like the files in the books. In there I can choose the chapters with level 2 headings. Or in some other cases I can expand the level 2 headings. In there I can choose the chapters with heading level 1 and 3. I wonder, where FrameMaker gets the selection and structure of the index for the HTML export.Thanks in advance for your help!Matthias

During development of my script I do not use the (established FM-)menu to invoke its functions, but normally test via ESTK.Of course I expected the same beahviour in using Notify whether I start the script via ESTK or directly out of FM.The very first thing the script (during development) is the presentation of a small dialog which lets me choose the function to be tested:Dialogue C, Dialogue S, Dialogue DS. The dialogues contain selection lists which are filled from items from the current document (e.g. the list of vaiables of type #calc). When Switching the document, a Notify function is (should be) invoked to refresh the content of the dialgue according to the current document.All works correctly if I start the script via File > Script > Run or from the Catalogue > Favourites:invoke Dialogue Cvariables are OK from documentSwitch documentNotify is invoked (alert)Variables are updated from document But this does not work correctly when starting from ESTK:invoke Dialogue Cvari

I am using a font called Horsham in Framemaker 12 on Windows 10. It came with 8 different weights but no italic. I had thought that I would be able to apply the Italic Angle in the paragraph or character designer as needed, but it's not available (only "Regular" is in the dropdown). I can apply italic to this font in other programs, like MS Word, and there are other fonts on my computer that don't indicate having italic variations in the Fonts folder, on which I CAN apply Italics.Is there any thing that I can do to make that font Italic in Framemaker 12 when I need to?

Steps to reproduce:1. Open any FrameMaker 2015 document2. Edit document3. Save document4. REopen document.5. Changes not saved.Especially annoying when doing import graphics, old one stays even after putting in new one.Current work around -edit document twice then save. Could the backup file be the problem? Is Frame creating more than one backupfile and therefore the backup must update first before the primary?

Hello, we already had this Problem with the Framemaker 12 and we upgrade to 2015 because we thought, the problem is fixed. If we create new conditions as a conditional text and then formats and assigns, FrameMaker crashes. The problem occurs in existing documents where already conditions assigned.I already create a Bugbase and sent this Problem to fmerror@adobe.com but I did not get a response. I created a template with Heading3 instead of Head3 - same properties just different name. I deleted all of the paragraph formats, imported the new template, updated the headers. Head3 remains persistent in the document. I cannot clear the check box for NextParagraph so that there is no required next paragraph. It just will not remove itself from the document period. I have tried removing it from the catalog and it does delete the format. But there it is still in the document. Any thoughts?

hii'm relativliy new to Framemaker 11. but i need to change the layout and add more titles.I allready added the new title to the edd. but some how the elements are not updated atomataclly.so i startet to open each element and adding the new format manualy to its variable, but that will take me probably a other week of work, because there are so many ;-(.it would be awsome if it would be possible to update all variables with the same name in each element at once.im looking forward to your answers.best regardsbeat

When I print a book from FM 13 (File > Print Book > Printer: Adobe PDF), the resulting PDF always defaults to opening at page 5. I can adjust the PDF File Properties to correct this after it prints, but I suspect there is a default setting I am missing. When I use Adobe PDF as the "printer" from programs other than FM, the resulting PDFs correctly open at page 1.I have already set the following from inside FM: File > Print Book > Printer: Adobe PDF > Generate Acrobat Data > PDF Setup > Open PDF Document on Page 1

Hello All,          I am having some issue while creating PDF from FrameMaker book. It is creating only a TPS file, but not PDF. I tried the trouble shooting options from adobe site. But nothing worked.I opened all the documents in the book before trying to create the pdf.This issue started after I tried updating TOC. That time I got the error "Show/Hide setting for is inconsistent in <filename>:.To solve that issue I followed the below steps for each of the documents in the book:On the 'Special' menu, clicked 'Conditional Text'.In the 'Conditional Text' dialog box, clicked 'Show/Hide'.In the 'Show/Hide Conditional Text' dialog box, made the condition tag same for all the filesThe errors disappeared but after that I am not able to generate PDF file.Please help me on this issue. FM15 started messing up for me. It wants to refresh slowly line by line and before it is refreshed, it starts over & over & over. It can take up to 30 minutes to refresh a page. If I save, copy, cut, page up/dn, etc. it starts all over. I rebooted my computer once but nothing changed.

Hi,I've been using Frame forever, and I've had version 12 (12.0.4.445) for a long while.  When I first enter "\x15" in a variable, everything works correctly.  When I click Update in the variable dialog box, "\x15" is replaced by "\+" in the variable definition and, in the body text, the hyphen is there and it is non-breaking.  Everything looks good.But, if I click Update a second time, the hyphen is replace by "+" in the body text.  No hyphen.  The variable definition still appears as "\+".  Why is it suddenly treating "\+" as a literal plus symbol in text and how do I make it stop?Thanks,--Jeff Gansberg

I cannot figure out why FM is omitting a specific file from the HTML5 output... I just got a new work computer, and this wasn't happening on the old one (using the same .sts file). Any idea how to ensure all files are being added to the output?

Doing this via the script catalog is at least time consuming.If I do not do this, then old code may be executed and the Data Browser shows items which are no more in the script...I even have to start FM and the ESTK again and again during the tests. In the Notify function it is also not possible,to set a breakpointto use $.writeln.The only feedback functions are alert, Alert and Console. It is, however, possible to set a breakpoint in a called function. Since some of them are called from the Notify function I need to place several...I have tried to place the unregistering code at the Cancel button of the dialogue the functions of which I'm testing:wPalDS.g1.Cancel.onClick = function () {  wPalDS.close();  Notification (Constants.FA_Note_PostActiveDocChange, false);

What does Internal Error: 11024, 21101821, 21093447, 19354980 mean and how do I fix it? Frame has crashed 7 times so far today - makes it difficult to get work done.

All of a sudden, some people on our team cannot generate TOCs in FrameMaker 2015, while others still can. We could all generate TOCs without a problem until this week (at least, this week is when we noticed the issue). Are there any known issues with the 3.1 update that was released in April (I believe)?When we select Add >> Create Standalone TOC, FrameMaker creates a TOC file and adds it to the book, but the file is completely blank. When we try updating the TOC file, nothing happens. When we try to create/update TOCs with other books and templates, same thing.Other folks are able to create/update TOCs with these same files. We haven't been able to determine what the difference is that's causing the issue.Those of us with the problem all seem to have FrameMaker 2015 version 13.0.3.495 installed. But at least one person who has that same version installed can create/update TOCs. (We're all on Windows 7, 64-bit.)Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance,jason nich

I am the IT responsible at our company and we have 2 Framemaker subscriptions that 2 of our users have and use. I have asked the support a couple of times if we can either pay per year or even better have the invoices emailed directly to our erp system.The support could not help me with this and i cant describe the irritation of the users who have to be alert and forward the email every month so it gets paid and now during vacation time.........How hard can it be to send an invoice for a year or change the invoice email address?Very frustrated admin.
