Question

Pixel brushes in Fresco stutter, lines constantly break without my pen leaving the screen

Hello everyone. I cannot seem to find an answer to my problem anywhere, it is quite difficult to find a way to explain it that doesn't give me results to do with lagging.

To sum up I am using Fresco on a 12.9" IpadPro 2021

No matter the brush I choose, I am having this problem, to repeat, there is no lag, it is more like a "stutter".

If I draw a line or colour in an area in one motion, without removing my pen from the screen, it appears to do so smoothly and responsively. However if I were to "undo" this, rather than it undoing the action in one go, it might be 3, 4, 5 perhaps a dozen or more undo's despite the fact my pen never left the screen.

I think it has something to do with my own hand breaking the connectivity of the pen? This does not happen if I do not rest my hand on the screen... however I can't draw like that, not really. I have tried gloves, this does not help. A thicker fabric or barrier does, but again, this is not practical.

This must be a fresco problem as this does not happen in other apps such as procreate.

Does anyone have any experience with this and have any tips or things that can be done to help alleviate this problem?

Many thanks

Ed

I have this exact same issue. No idea how to fix it. Super noticeable when drying to draw carefully

I'm having the same issues with both line or pen stroke changing (I select 10 line in a 1000x1000px sized document with 72dpi for example ) it can change to either super thick or super thin. It's not consistent.

I first thought maybe it could be memory issues or my iPad performance being affected by the document size because the dpi is so low - so switched to 300 to see if that's the issue. It helped a little but still had issues with the eraser size.

the pen stutter maybe due to tiny bubbles trapped between the screen protector and surface. Try turning off your iPad and look to see if you have these. I noticed a had a bunch in one corner of the screen.

the line resizing is definitely a bug in the system pertaining to dpi and ppi  - my two cents anyway

Ed,

I'm having a similar, maybe parallel problem. I draw and write constantly on my tablet. I loved Adobe Sketch as it was very close to analog in terms of pen engagement with screen and pencil/pen like results. Now, with Fresco, when I write, the program seems to adjust my geometries and strokes...it is very frustrating and takes the authentic way that I write and draw away from me. I'm wondering if there is a pen setting that needs adjustment...and I'll post the question outside of this reply. Do you have the same auto adjust too or just the skipping. I have the skipping when I try to use the eraser tool in photoshop...also very frustrating.

I must add, this is a problem with many brushes, its not just the inconvenience of having to undo 20 times when it should be just once, for many brushes the very act of it "restarting" causes the brush to change shape, change angle, etc, so I cant get smooth, consistent lines or texture with most brushes.

Hi Ed, sorry this wasn't seen earlier, have updates since you posted fixed the problem or does it still happen for you?

Is it possible to show screenshots which show that it looks like a single line but that it can be broken apart?
