Adobe Illustrator freezing occasionally

Hi all, 

I recently obtain Adobe Illustrator from school to do labs. I have a 2080ti, I9 coffee lake and 16 G of ram. The program worked well for about 3 days, then lag started appearing occasionally when I'm editing or changing tools. Is there a fix for this?

Hi Leremy and Lapoon,

 

We extremely sorry to hear about the performance issues you are facing. That's not a typical experience with Illustrator. If the issue still persists, please share a few more details like:

  • OS and version of Illustrator
  • Is the issue related to a specific document(s)/asset(s)? If yes, could you please share the document(s)/asset(s) with us? You can upload it to the creative cloud and share the download link.
  • Where the files are saved (Network Drive/ System HDD/ Shared Folder on System /External HDD)?
  • When did this start happening? Are there any recent changes made to your system? For example, any antivirus, system updates or web extensions installed recently.
  • Does resetting Illustrator Preferences help resolve the issue? 

Please note that resetting preferences will remove all the custom settings and Illustrator will launch with default settings. This way all your old settings will be saved in .old folders and Illustrator will recreate new folders with default settings.

Hi Srishti,

Regarding the version of the software, it should be the most updated version. I recently enrolled in a digital art course for electives. I have not changed the preferences or updated the version as of yet. As for the documents, it is happening to all new and old files. It occurs every few strokes and is extremely irritating. For some reason, this is also happening to Premiere Pro where the screen freezes every time I try to edit something. All files and programs are installed on my 

Samsung 970 EVO 1TB internal SSD ( the ones that are on/in the motherboard ). This happened about 2-3 days after I got the program. However, this cannot determine the exact date of the issue as I did not use it intensively when I first obtained it. I have yet to try resetting my preference. I will get on that as soon as I am available and report back if that fixes it. Additionally, all my files should be cloud saved in creative cloud.

Yep, this freezing issue has been happening every hour for the past few weeks. Please fix this as soon as possible as it started to get really annoying.
