I'm a complete beginner in Illustrator and I'm a bit frustrated, because I don't know how to properly search for an answer to my problem.
I have imported two SVG's and I want to use the shape of the bottom svg, but with the color design of the svg at the top. Is there a way to replace the color design of the bottom svg (without losing the shape) with the design at the top?

In addition to what Lutz said, you need to swap stacking order (you may select the top one and Ctrl/Cmd+X+B), before you Ctrl/Cmd+7 to apply the Clipping Mask.
Lutz, I apologize for the education wrecking; in the days of the fair forums (which ended 11 years ago) almost everyone (at least in my part of the (then divided) tribe) would have gone along with it (mercilessly providing the necessary silly jokes and banter), but I have long seen my own attempts undercut by almost everyone, except for certain intriguing cases where few had an answer, so I believe my abstaining would only have been able to postpone it for a few moments more.
