When removing black background from .svg, image sketch becomes inverted

Hello,

I am doing dog sketches from photograph on another app. Sometimes, the app makes a black background instead of white. When I try to remove it, the entire image outline becomes inverted. Pictures below for visual.

Is it possible to remove the black background while keeping the outlines in the same way they were before?
