Question

The Illustrator app keeps crashing on iPadOS 26.4.2.

The Illustrator app keeps crashing when trying open or create a new project. Was working before the iPadOS 26.4 update. And I even updated to iPadOS 26.4.2 version to no avail. I've uninstalled, reinstalled, cleared cache and shut it all down. I have a 9th generation ipad. What is the resolution to this issue?

    Hi team,

Having the same issue here, deleted the app restarted device. Whether it’s a new or existing file illustrator keeps crashing.

Send additional .ips file links to Anubhav. I hope this helps 🙌🙏

    Hello @JWes76,

I understand how frustrating it can be to experience crashes in Illustrator, especially in the middle of work. Would you mind sharing the crash report so that we can investigate this further:

    • Open iPad Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements > Analytics Data. You will see file names like “Illustrator-2023-01-03-083327.ips” (2023-01-03 is the date in the log & 083327 is the time). Ensure you share the recent log file after the crash by looking at the timestamp.

    • Upload the file to a file-sharing service and share a link to the file here or via DM.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks for sharing the file. It seems the full report and the IPS file were not uploaded. Kindly reupload the files to a file-sharing service and share the link here or via DM so we can check this further with the team.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Hi @colin_8214,

Sorry to hear about the crashes, I understand how disruptive this must be in a production setup. Could you please confirm the exact version of Illustrator you’re using along with your macOS details? I also wasn’t able to find any crash reports linked to your community email, so could you let me know if you see the Adobe crash reporter dialog when the app crashes? If yes, please submit the report and share the email address you used via DM so I can check the logs. You can refer to this guide as well: https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/crash-next-steps.html?linkId=100000357094820

To help isolate this further, please try printing to a local printer once and check if the behavior changes. Also, try resetting Illustrator preferences manually using this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfO7Ixi28oM&t=24s and test again.

Additionally, as suggested by the expert, please reset the printer queues and see if that makes any difference.

Let me know how it goes after trying these, and we’ll take this forward with you.

    Hi Abhishek,

Thanks for looking into this. It’s just crashed and I’ve sent the report. The report should be under my community email. I’ve also attached it here.

    Thanks

    Hello @colin_8214

Thanks for sharing the details. It seems the full crash dump was not uploaded. Would you mind saving the full crash dump on your computer and then sharing it via a file-sharing service with me or @Abhishek Rao so, we can check this with the team?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Illustrator doesn’t particularly like printer queues

I’m having an issue with Illustrator where perhaps 1 in every 10 times I press ‘print’ it crashes and closes illustrator. I’m using this in a commercial print workshop so can have it crash 3-4 times a day.

I’m printing to two “virtual printers” on a network and it happens on both printers.
It’s always immediately after pressing print on the print dialog.
It happens across multiple files and can happen when illustrator is the only open app and only one file is open.
It occurs on all file sizes.

I’ve tried a complete re-install and updating illustrator and updating Mac OS.

I’m running on an Intel Mac mini with 16gb RAM

I don’t seem to have the issue with inDesign.

If anyone could suggest a solution that would be hugely appreciated!!

    Hello @Mjskpersonalprojector

We understand how frustrating it can be to experience crashes in Illustrator, especially in the middle of work. Would you mind updating the OS and the Illustrator app to the latest version and checking if it helps?

    (https://adobe.ly/4tnOuPW), (https://adobe.ly/4tQWZ6H)

Also, kindly check if all of your work is synced online (https://adobe.ly/4ty9bsJ). If so, try deleting Illustrator, restarting your device, and reinstalling the app to see if that helps.

If the issue persists, kindly share the crash report so that we can investigate this further:

    • Open iPad Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements > Analytics Data. You will see file names like “Illustrator-2023-01-03-083327.ips” (2023-01-03 is the date in the log & 083327 is the time). Ensure you share the recent log file after the crash, based on the timestamp.

    • Upload the file to a file-sharing service and share the link here or via DM.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

I have been using Illustrator for iPad for over a year now and haven’t had any issues until this week. I am unable to open any file without the app crashing. I can’t even open up a new clean art board. I have deleted the app and reinstalled a few times, and have turned off my ipad, and updated my iPad. I’m using iPadOS 26.4 and the newest version of Illustrator in the App Store. Can anyone help? I have a project due in two days and this has been happening for a week!
