Question

The Illustrator app keeps crashing on iPadOS 26.4.2.

The Illustrator app keeps crashing when trying open or create a new project. Was working before the iPadOS 26.4 update. And I even updated to iPadOS 26.4.2 version to no avail. I've uninstalled, reinstalled, cleared cache and shut it all down. I have a 9th generation ipad. What is the resolution to this issue?

I am having the same problem, Adobe said the problem is with Apple & Apple says the problem is with Adobe, all my other Adobe apps are working, only Illustrator continues to crash, I have spoken with support who offers no solution, I updated today to OS 26.5.2 reinstalled Illustrator & its still crashing, we need a solution!!!!

Same here. I’m a professional user, and it’s been over a month now that Illustrator on iPad is completely unusable for me due to these constant crashes. I’ve already provided logs to support, but I’m just getting standard 'blame Apple/Adobe' responses. It’s clearly a software issue that needs to be fixed immediately, as many of us are losing income and work progress daily. You are definitely not alone

I also have this problem with illustrator. It's really frustrating because I need it for studies and work. This issue needs to be addressed and sorted out soon

Which iPad model do you have? I have an iPad Air 3 and the workaround doesn't work for me either.

    Hi everyone,

Thanks for staying with us on this. We're aware of the recent surge in reports about Illustrator crashing on iPads, particularly on the 9th generation model, and we're actively working with the product team to resolve it.

In the meantime, we've also noted that several users have reported the app working when switching to Airplane Mode - worth trying as a temporary workaround while we work on the fix.

The issue has already been escalated to the product team on an urgent basis, and I'll update this thread as soon as we have more information. Thanks for sharing the crash logs and for your patience - both are directly helping the team narrow down the cause.

Thank you, Anubhav. I really hope your team will find a solution that includes older iPad models as well, because we are completely locked out of our workflow.

Unfortunately, the Airplane Mode workaround does not work for me. Even in offline mode, Illustrator on my iPad still crashes and doesn't allow me to save anything at all. I am eagerly waiting for a real fix.

    Hello!

Adobe support just answered me. They are trying to close the case, claiming it is a "hardware RAM issue" and we need a new iPad. This is a lie to avoid fixing their code. Adobe Fresco works perfectly on my device, proving that only Illustrator is broken after the updates. Please open an official support ticket, complain loudly, and demand a fix. If we all pressure them, they will have to fix this bug!

For me, Adobe Fresco crashes anytime I plug my iPad 9th Gen in to charge or it causes one stroke of my pen to record 1000+ strokes (unable to create a clean line), then the pen becomes completely unresponsive ONLY on Fresco...and won’t work until I force close and reopen. Yet at the same time, these new updates are DRAINING the life out of my iPad when Fresco is the only running active program in use...but I can’t charge while working because of the aforementioned reasons. Because of this bug, not knowing who the real culprit is...yeah, I’m losing income and money because I’m a professional.

I so understand were you're at.It's other issues for me, but still crashing at opening a file, new or existing. Desperately searching for another program (which is not out there) and paying my monthly fees in the meantime, because I can still use Illustrator on the PC...Please help us out!

Hello! I feel your pain. I have been trying to resolve this exact issue with Adobe tech support for two weeks now, and so far, there is no result. Standard troubleshooting steps are completely useless here.

I just managed to escalate my case to a support supervisor, and they promised to hand it over to the engineering team to check the server-side account synchronization. I honestly think that no one can help us with this bug except Adobe's internal developers.

If I get any updates, a working solution, or a fix from them, I will definitely post it here to let you know. Hang in there!
