Can't click the buttons in pop-up windows

Whenever I try to make adjustments or change settings through a pop-up window such as in the Colour Picker or Obejct Effects I'm not able to click the different buttons like "Ok, Cancel, Preview". I'm not able to move the stops in the "Gradient Feather" either. However, it does work to press ESC or ENTER on the keyboard to close the window. It also works to click on the drop-down menus and change the value in "angle." Why are some of the settings/buttons not clickable?

I'm connected to a monitor, but I've tried moving the window to my computer screen but the same problem occurs each time. I'm just not able to make changes in the pop-up windows and I don't know what's wrong...

Please help, because I'm completely stuck! Thanks 🙂

After restarting InDesign it seems to be working fine! Though, this has happened a few times before, which makes me wonder, why does it happen? Do I need to restart whenever this happens...?

Which version of InDesign and OS?

How much RAM and spare hard disk capacity do you have?

Have you tried resetting the InDesign Preferences?

Considering the amount of money I spend on Adobe softwares, I shouldn't need to work around basic functions like being able to click "Ok and Cancel". My job is to create, not investigate software issues. But thank you very much for the link George! It sure might be useful in the future if more problems arise. 🙂
