Deleting unused paragraph style in a better way

”Select All Unused” works the same way for me as it does for Bill. It selects styles that are not used and they can be easily deleted.

Which styles in your list get selected when you choose that command? Which of the styles are asking to be replaced? Choose one of those styles and go to Style Options from the Paragraph Style panel menu and let us see the definition for the style. That might shed some light.

Also, you have one style that came in from Microsoft Word — the one with the icon to the far right.

I just tested this using CC 2019 InDesign running on Mojave. When I "Select All Unused" it merely highlights the unused styles and I can simply click on the trash can in the lower right of the Paragraph Styles Panel and delete the unused styles without any dialog popping up. It will not, though, allow me to delete the [Basic Paragraph] style but all others can be deleted with no problem.

What operating system and what version of InDesign are you using? Is this happening on just one document or with all documents? Please show any relevant document windows that pop up when you are trying to select and delete.
