files keep re-appearing after delete

i do not save my files to the cloud, so im not sure whats going on. The problem seems to be with the adobeFnt21.lst as that file never deletes and keeps reappearing. This started happening with the lastest updates. Right now, i've only noticed it with my indesign packaged files. The only way i've been able to delete them is by renaming them, otherwise they keep re-appearing after delete.

    that's a known bug with feature Package in InDesign 15.0.2.323.

    what should work:


    After packaging a document, quit and restart InDesign.

    Just tested this with my German InDesign 15.0.2.323 on Windows 10.

        I used the Creative Cloud app to un-install 15.0.2 and I re-installed 15.0.1 and that solved the problem. 15.0.2 seems to be buggy!

          That's normal system activity. Each time an Adobe application is launched, the fonts that are active in that moment  are "indexed." Many, maybe most, users aren't even aware of those files coming and going during their day-to-day operation — because there's no compelling reason to pay attention to it — at least until something goes wrong. If it ever happens that one of your Adobe applications fails to recognize a font you know is installed and active, finding and deleting all instances of AdobeFnt.lst, then relaunching the application to trigger a cache rebuild (and a new copy of AdobeFnt.lst), is often a good way to remedy the problem. Otherwise, you can stop thinking about them.

            Doing a search for all instances of AdobeFnt.lst is gonna be difficult, if not impossible, as we archive everything. And we keep archives on different servers depending on how sensitive a client is. This doesnt only happend when deleting files, it also happens when i move a folder from one location another.
            Why does adobe need to have a list of all my fonts? Why? The only reason i can think of is tracking. Why not only list the fonts being used at the moment? At the very least, Adobe should come up with a reset for their fontlist since this remedy seems extremely cumbersome. The instructions file seemed to work fine, it's only when adobe started their adobefnt.lst that problems atrted occurring.

            One thing I failed to mention is that it isn't new; Adobe applications have been writing AdobeFnt.lst files for as long as I can remember; maybe all the way back to the Pagemaker days. I'm not sure exactly what led you to associate your discovery of them with whatever problems you're experiencing, but I suspect they aren't directly related; just a coincidence. In fact, rereading your original post, perhaps you regard their very presence as a problem...(?) And now rereading all above, you appear to be misconstruing my reference to finding and deleting all instances of AdobeFnt.lst as an "extremely cumbersome remedy" for something other than what I explained: "one of your Adobe applications fails to recognize a font you know is installed and active."

             

            I wasn't presenting it as a solution to your problem, especially seeing as I'm not convinced you actually have one. Perhaps I missed something in your explanation, but the presence of AdobeFnt.lst files is normal, and the only way you can prevent their regenerating is to not run any Adobe applications in which your system's fonts can be accessed. If you do have something abnormal going on, you may have to be more specific about the details.
