InDesign 21.4 Bug: Unable to Move Multiple Selected Objects When Dragging Over Placed Images

In the latest update of InDesign when I have multiple shapes and frames on the page selected, if my cursor is above something like a rectangle with content/picture inside it, I only move the picture that is below it at the time.

Rather than the whole selection of objects as it used to. I tested before and after the update and it was something that only broke with 21.4. If I cursor over a solid shape object while still selecting the entire group (including the photo frame) that then moves the entire section but only if cursor above a placed fill object does it break.

What could possibly be happening?

IF YOU ARE DOWNGRADING TO 21.3 AND RESETTING/IMPORTING ANY PREFERENCES, MAKE SURE TO UNCHECK “Auto-generate Alt Text when placing images” ONCE YOU ARE DONE. IT WILL RECHECK ITSELF AFTER IMPORTING PREFERENCES + RESTARTING

The InDesing started with the same issue and now images are gone and text is not showing. Seems it gets into a loop.

Même problème avec l’outil de sélection, notamment pour pointer un objet afin d’utiliser l’alignement sur un objet clé. J’ai désinstalle la version pour revenir à la 21.3

Yes, it’s a known bug in InDesign 21.4:

You may want to revert to InDesign 21.3, as described in the linked thread, until it’s fixed.

Bonjour,

Depuis la dernière mise à jour indesign, mes collègues et moi rencontrent de nombreux bugs : Selection multiple impossible, disparition des raccourcis claviers, plus de possibilité de déplacer plusieurs objets en même temps, gros lags….
personnellement, je suis obligé de forcer la fermeture du logiciel toutes les 20mn environ pour retrouver les fonctionnalités me permettant de travailler correctement.

Comment faire?

It also seems to affect the ability to highlight a key object for the alignment tools. For this, there is no workarount I can think of.

I thought it was illustrator only now it has affected indesign too now, jeez… plz fix asap… cannot work properly.

Really annoying bug! Please fix this ASAP - you are annoying and frustrating your core users. Affinity doesn’t have this issue…!! Fix it or you’ll lose customers...

Will be good when this has been fixed - I’ve noticed that (for me at least) it only happens when you have multiple objects selected and the object you click-drag happens to be an image. If you select multiple objects, aim for the text frames instead. In any case I’ve taken @leo.r ‘s advice and reverted to the previous InDesign version 21.3, no issues now.
