InDesign 21.4 Bug: Unable to Move Multiple Selected Objects When Dragging Over Placed Images

In the latest update of InDesign when I have multiple shapes and frames on the page selected, if my cursor is above something like a rectangle with content/picture inside it, I only move the picture that is below it at the time.

Rather than the whole selection of objects as it used to. I tested before and after the update and it was something that only broke with 21.4. If I cursor over a solid shape object while still selecting the entire group (including the photo frame) that then moves the entire section but only if cursor above a placed fill object does it break.

What could possibly be happening?

Hi, we released InDesign version 21.4.1 today that includes a fix for this issues. Please check out: https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/desktop/whats-new/release-notes.html

Please update InDesign and let us know how it goes.

If you do not see the update in the Creative Cloud Desktop App, check out: https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/apps/manage-apps/creative-cloud-apps/update-creative-cloud-apps-manually.html

    Thanks,

Brutal. Why does every “update” end up causing other issues?!

Is anyone testing these updates before they’re released??!

    Same problem here 🤚

Grouping and ungrouping is a short term workaround for this issue.

I can’t use the key object align method.

Without even closing the software, restarting or anything… I came back in this morning and it’s behaving like normal WTF 🤯

Unfortunately, I have the same problem when I want to move multiple images on the same page. When I try to do that, only one image moves instead of all of them. There is definitely a way to solve it, but I wonder if this will be fixed by Adobe?

@Zattar Yes, Adobe is aware of this and, hopefully, will fix it in the next update. In the meantime, you can revert to InDesign 21.3: Creative Cloud app > InDesign > 3-dot menu > Other Versions

For such an expensive software for professional use this is really a serious issue. This bug is discovered 2 weeks ago and still no HOTFIX Update. This should not happen with such a basic functionality!

Please fix, seriously annoying for such a basic user function in an app that’s been running for decades.
This also affects alignment of objects.
And, can’t select a series of objects and just select one in order to delete others - whole lot gets deleted. WTF.

And moving with is just a nightmare, no fluidity. Come an Adobe, you can do better. Just get back to the former way of moving multiple objects.

Same issue here. Also selecting multiple objects and clicking again on the main object to align to this object is not working.

Installed 21.3 again to fix these issues.
