Indesign 6 crashes on startup

After serious problems with Indesign (not CC) decided to uninstall and reinstall from disc. Problem even worse now, Indesign crashes at startup almost immediately during initializing. Has been working great until a problem came up, not able to move items with cursor.

Can I restore the whole Indesign folder from my TimeMachine? I learned there may be a problem with the activation code not having been copied/accepted by TimeMachine?

Can anyone please help. I am on a project with nearing deadline!

CS6 is not supported under anything later than 10.10! Roll back to that or move to Creative Cloud.

Just can't believe this! The whole setup has worked perfectly as it is. Including Illustrator and Photoshop. Only Lightroom had some problems. There MUST be some solution! Somehow a bug got in, lets kill the beast.

I've been an Adobe costumer since 1992 and started using the first CS version.

Can any one tell me if Adobe Support Advisor is still available (and working)?

And answer my question : "

I downloaded the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool but was uncertain about what it did with my files, so haven't used it.

It says I should first uninstall Indesign and then use the Tool, but it only lets me select the entire CS6, not just Indesign and I suspect that it will delete the whole lot or does it just "clean"?

These are the two things I have not tried yet.

You said you were desperate and wanted answers. I gave them to you.

Someone may pop along and find something that MIGHT work for a little while but again, it's unsupported, and further you go with the Mac OS, the less likely you'll get it working.

As for support, Adobe does not sell or support CS6 any longer. You'll get no help for them. CS6 is six years old and is now five full versions out of date.

So, roll it back to 10.10, move to Creative Cloud or wait for something that may or may not work. Good luck.

Does Time Machine mean Mac? (you should always provide computer and operating system information when asking a question)

If Mac, you are correct... Migration and TM do not find the "hidden" registration information put on the drive during install

If Mac, what is the exact version of your operating system?

CS6 and earlier programs have not been tested and will not be updated for Mac El Capitan or later operating systems

-which means that you try to use CS6 and earlier at YOUR risk of having problems due to Apple updates

-Apple did not maintain backward compatibility with old programs in El Capitan or Sierra

--Adobe has a workaround to Apple's problem of not maintaining backward compatibility

--READ HERE https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2301916 for an Adobe solution to installing old programs, including a link to installing the old Java runtime that is required

Sorry John that I forgot to mention the specs of my Mac. Yes I am on a MacBookPro 2009, SSD with OS X El Capitan 10.11.6

I have tried all the steps you advised via the links but no result yet. Adobe Support Advisor cannot be downloaded anymore from Adobe, Is has been replaced by Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool. I could still download Adobe Support advisor from two other parties, but both files were damages after download.

Also tried trashing Indesign caches (Indesign SavedData) and (Indesign Defaults). Indesign still will not start up.

Uninstalled again and did a new install from disc but selected the red install file with the ctrl button down so I could select "show package" and select there and double click the install file. This will open Terminal which automatically runs a few lines and installs the program. No result, still will not start up.

Installed the old Java, no result, still will not start up.

I retrieved and replaced the whole Indesign folder from Time Machine backup, still will not start up (as expected).

Don't know what else I can do! Ran out of ideas and am quite desperate!

    Anymore suggestions?
