I have create an animated graphics video in InDesign, and I want to add a pre-recorded voiceover that I can time and edit accurately to match the images. I'm thinking I could do that in Adobe Premier Pro (?), but can't work out how to import my InDesign file. It won't let me save it as a SWF file (assuming that's what I need to do?)

Can anyone help?? THANK YOU

Hi Matthew,

don't know a straight way from animation in InDesign to Adobe Premiere Pro.

You may ask this in the Premiere forum as well. Also in the Animate forum.

If you think you are able to import or convert a SWF file to a Premiere project I'd suggest you:

1. Export your InDesign document to IDML

2. Install InDesign CC 2019

3. Work on with the IDML file in CC 2019 and export a SWF from there.

Hi rayek_elfin,

seems the main problem is to convert an animation from InDesign to a video format that can be loaded to Premiere Pro or a different video editing software. Do you have any suggestions how this can be accomplished?

Hi Uwe - you you right! For some reason, IDML file allows me to save as .swf file, where InDesign 2020 didn't. Strange.

Someone else is saying. for video, .swf isn't the way to go, as Flash is obsolete. I now have a file saved as HTML5 which will work on any plaform. In terms of it playing on any platform, someone else suggrested I save it as a Quicktime file. It's confusing. I now need to sync my animated video with a voiceover which I have recorded. Any ideas as to how I do that?

Many thanks!

Everything related to Flash is removed since 2020 as Flash is officially EOL.

Flash is an obsolete format.

Have a look at in5 https://ajarproductions.com/pages/products/in5/?ref=footer

Thanks so mich Derek for responding. Very interesting! I've downloaded In5 and I think it might be perfect for what I'm trying to do. Avoids Flash altogether, and means I can create at html5 file, which I believe means anyone will be able to watch my video. THANK YOU.
