Question

InDesign CC 2021 (mac) cannot copy necessary linked files

I've seen this question asked before, but I've tried everything and cannot figure out why this is happening.

-I have the latest version of InDesign running on a (new) 2020 27-inch Mac Big Sur 11.5.1.

-No special characters

-No link issues

-uninstalling did not help

-resetting preferences did not help

-I work off of a shared server in my department

-Files WILL package to my desktop but not the server

-Going to utilities and copying all links to a folder gets the same cannot copy error.

-Working with the exact same file and links on our server, my boss can package the files without issue. Nothing has changed other than the new computer (and it started doing this after having it for 2 weeks.)

----Just now discovered (in one instance only) that when links are in my downloads folder on my local computer, it will not package. I moved the file to my server and it packaged fine. This has NEVER been an issue before and I did this constantly - downloading isotck images, creating something and packaging with links in both my downloads folder and my server. (however this doesn't resolve the other issues with files that my boss could package and I could not - those did not have any files on my desktop, or she obviously could not access them and package without missing link warnings.)

Ok - it's a new computer - and when files are on your computer it won't package to the server.

And when they are already on the server they package fine.

This to me sounds like a permissions issue between your Mac and the server.

You might see if any of this helps

If not - I'd ask your IT department to check out any issues between your computer and the network.
