InDesign CC crashes - Lauch/Text tool

I just have upgraded my cs6 to the new cc-suite.  But indesign cc does not work properly on my iMac.  Each time I want to make a text frame or work in a text frame in a old ID-file indesign cc crashes.  I have some urgent deadlines from different tasks that need to be finished. HELP.  Thanks in advance for an answer please.

    Hi everyone,

Again, we apologies for all the inconveniences and frustration.

Until an update to the application is made directly available, we have created the following plug-ins to help resolve the crash issue.

Please follow the instruction below to download and install the plug-in.

    http://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/indesign-cc-crashing-launch.html

    Mac OS:

    1. Download CopyPlugins_Mac.zip
    2. Extract the contents of the zip to a folder
    3. Launch the app
    4. Select the “Adobe InDesign CC.app” or “Adobe InCopy CC.app” in the dialog that comes up

Note: If there is a security warning, go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General. Under 'Allow applications downloaded from:' change the option to “Anywhere.”

*For security purposes, please changed back the setting after the plug-in has been updated.

    Windows:

The .zip archive contains a VBScript file & two folders for 32-bit and 64-bit plug-ins.

    1. Download CopyPlugins_Win.zip
    2. Extract the contents of the zip file locally to a folder
    3. Launch CopyPlugins.vbs script
      • 64-bit system:
        • Select the “Adobe InDesign CC (64 bit)” or “Adobe InCopy CC (64 bit)” folder in the dialog that comes up
      • 32-bit system:
        • Select “Adobe InDesign CC (32 bit)” or “Adobe InCopy CC (32 bit)” folder in the dialog that comes up

Hope this can resolve the issue. If InDesign CC continues to crash, please collect the crash log, paste it to http://pastebin.com and share the link here so we can investigate further.

    Thanks!

I'm getting the same problem. Is it because I'm still using the trial version?  It seems to crash when opening a certain file (which still can be opened in CS4).

    Here's my crash report.

Trials are fully functional, so it isn't that. Do you use a font manager? If so, turn off the auto-activation plugin.

You can also try the blind export to .idml script at Adobe Community: InDesign 6 is crashing when attempting to open a particular document. All others are opening OK.

Did you find a solution to this? I tried with the patch tha t amxyz posted but it's useless and now it's worse cause I can't even open Indesign, when I try this pops out:

    Error

Cannot load Adobe InDesign CC because it requires version 9.1 or later of the Font Manager.InDesignPlugin plug-in. Please contact vendor for compatible version of Font Manager.InDesignPlugin.

Uninstall ID and reinstall. The 9.1 patch has the code from the link Amy posted.

Hello! and excuse my poor English!

the software leaves after the loading.

I search on forum and tested: reset pref, starting Mac without failure, desactive the fonts on system, reinstall.

    But Nothing!

Indesign CS 6 work correctly, but indesign CC does not open or max 2 sec. before leaving, without report of planting.

    Help!

Are you patched to the 9.1 version of InDesign?

ID CC crashing on start up. Cannot open my files in CS6. I have an urgent deadline today. Attached is a copy of the crash report

    Mazinaus,

Most times when I see a log like yours it's related to a few possibilities.

    1. Corrupt preferences. http://forums.adobe.com/thread/526990 - I always prefer the manual removal to the shortcut keys.
    2. Problems with SING - http://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/hang-freeze-open-create-file.html
    3. Damaged installation

It would not appear to be related to the issue within this thread.

In the future, should you need to repost a crash log, please make use of Pastebin.  http://pastebin.com

Hi Scott and Robert, Thanks for your input. All fixed now. It just needed a restart on the mac, a clean up of my hard drive and all is well.

AMXYZ please can you specify, for windows users, exactly how to identify the correct file to upload to fix into please.

I'm trying to follow the fix but keep getting an error saying error add to file "IndesignCC64bit", and I find the file, select it,  but the error comes back. I realise I am probably looking at the wrong file, but there is only one indesign program file to see....

Are you running 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 7?

On 64-bit systems you should find ID CC installations in both Program Files and Program Files (x86). The first one is the 64-bit version and the second is the 32-bit version. On a 32-bit Windows system there is only a Program Files folder, and you will have only the 32-bit version of ID (and only need the 32-bit patch).

thanks Peter, as you can see on the left, the pop up window comes up after launching 'CopyPlugins.vbs script' as per the instructions, but there is no way to browse for 'programme files', the window just takes me directly to 'programme files (86)' and there is only one IDCCfile to chose from. I think this must be that the temporary fix is not designed for 64bit windows. I have a technician from Adobe working on this and will post here for others in the same boat, if any solution arises, meantime I think the idea to go back to CS6 for a while is the quickest solution.

I updated from CS6 to CC without any problems - being still one of 'those' who use a separate font manager program, which I still highly recomend.

My only problem was with one of our Editors in our InCopy/InDesign workflow: every time she updated an assignment file InDesign would crash on my side when I tried to update. After cleaning up her font folder(s) the problem disapeared and I can update assignments now without problems.

Hope this helps someone in publishing workflows!

Help I am having the same problem!

I have just bought the Indesign CC & need it urgently. Everytime I click on it it just shows the splash page & then as it is about to load it crashes.

I have deleted all my downloaded fonts, but kept my windows fonts.

I have also done this but for some reason the CopyPLugins won't open on my computer?

    Help me please!!!

    Mac OS:

Presumably if you have bought InDesign CC you are signed up for a Creative Cloud account. If you need to get something done urgently, download CS6 from the Cloud download menu (see a few posts above for how to do that). It works fine. Then you can sort out CC at your/Adobe's leisure.

    The same problem.

It is the font tool and not the font menu, so it can't be a font related problem.

    Could it be FontCase related?

    here is my report http://pastebin.com/Z0A2dH1x

Have to say that indesign incapable to handle fonts in any amount or type is pointless.

re: "It is the font tool and not the font menu, so it can't be a font related problem."

Sorry, but I think it is the same problem. When you select the type tool it loads the Font Menu into the Control Panel that runs across the top of your screen. Does indesign also crash when you open the Character Panel? If so then it is the same problem.

It's the first time I've had software from Adobe that is broken like InDesign CC appears to be. It's obviously a pretty serious issue since Adobe haven't resolved it yet.
