I just have upgraded my cs6 to the new cc-suite.  But indesign cc does not work properly on my iMac.  Each time I want to make a text frame or work in a text frame in a old ID-file indesign cc crashes.  I have some urgent deadlines from different tasks that need to be finished. HELP.  Thanks in advance for an answer please.

    Hi everyone,

Again, we apologies for all the inconveniences and frustration.

Until an update to the application is made directly available, we have created the following plug-ins to help resolve the crash issue.

Please follow the instruction below to download and install the plug-in.

    http://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/indesign-cc-crashing-launch.html

    Mac OS:

    1. Download CopyPlugins_Mac.zip
    2. Extract the contents of the zip to a folder
    3. Launch the app
    4. Select the “Adobe InDesign CC.app” or “Adobe InCopy CC.app” in the dialog that comes up

Note: If there is a security warning, go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General. Under 'Allow applications downloaded from:' change the option to “Anywhere.”

*For security purposes, please changed back the setting after the plug-in has been updated.

    Windows:

The .zip archive contains a VBScript file & two folders for 32-bit and 64-bit plug-ins.

    1. Download CopyPlugins_Win.zip
    2. Extract the contents of the zip file locally to a folder
    3. Launch CopyPlugins.vbs script
      • 64-bit system:
        • Select the “Adobe InDesign CC (64 bit)” or “Adobe InCopy CC (64 bit)” folder in the dialog that comes up
      • 32-bit system:
        • Select “Adobe InDesign CC (32 bit)” or “Adobe InCopy CC (32 bit)” folder in the dialog that comes up

Hope this can resolve the issue. If InDesign CC continues to crash, please collect the crash log, paste it to http://pastebin.com and share the link here so we can investigate further.

    Thanks!

InDesign CC is crashing for me as well, but on launch (I never have the chance to even open a document, much less use the text tool). I'm on Windows 7 64-bit.

I will be letting my company's IT department handle this, but thought the info might be useful.

This isnt great... I have moved all of my fonts to another folder... then I restart ID CC... then I try to edit a text field. Crashtastic.

This is going to hurt my productivity. I can't even open the files because now they are saved as CC files and my CS6 won't work with them.

    Any other solutions?

    Hi everyone,

First and foremost, on behalf of Adobe, I'm sorry for all the inconveniences we've caused.

The InDesign engineer team is aware of the issue and is working on providing a fix soon.

Meanwhile, please refer to this help document for troubleshooting steps:

    http://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/indesign-cc-crashing-launch.html

    1. Quit InDesign

    2. Remove all fonts from the fonts folder and add a small batch of fonts back in

    3. Launch InDesign

    4. If it doesn't crash, quit InDesign and add some more fonts.

If it crashes, you know one of that batch is the problem, narrow down further.

ex. Split the fonts into halves, add half of the fonts back in > if crashes > add half of the batch that causes the crash > half of that to narrow down the list

Look out for fonts with special characters in the name. Some examples of problem fonts reported by the community are:

    • Ithornët
    • Typo3-Medium.ttf
    • Typo3Normal.ttf
    • batang.ttf
    • Savoye LET
    • IndyPimp
    • ImpactLabel

If InDesign CC continues to crash, please collect the crash log, paste it to http://pastebin.com and share the link here so we can investigate further.

    Thanks!

Same here - InDesign CC crashed on splash screen - changes preferences (2x) - still crashed

Removed fonts from user folder - all's well!

There are no fonts in my Adobe folders  - any of them CS6, CC, 64 bit or 32 bit versions . They're all in Windows Fonts. Do I have to remove those and find the needle in the haystack that CC doesn't like? I'm tempted to forget CC and carry on using CS6 which works without a problem. Why doesn't CC give some error message clue about why it won't run, or better still point to the conflicting file, or at least give some health warning on installation that it could run into problems with fonts and this is a change from CS6?

Freeware font manager (PC) - FontFrenzy: http://www.sdsoftware.org/software/fontfrenzy/#more-16 And there just select "Defrenzy", and FontFrenzy will remove all non-system fonts (the program should make a backup of your existing fonts before that action).

About conflicting file. I think in my case fonts are not the problem. I'll paste here, what I wrote yesterday in another topic.

I already did every single tip for windows troubleshooting. And InDesign still crashes.

Tip from the logfile I pasted couple of lines above:
    LoadedModule[403]=C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CC (64 bit)\PLUGIN.dll
    After that:
    ConsentKey=APPCRASH
    AppName=Adobe InDesign CC

But... I have no third party plugins. So it looks like there is a problem with plugins built into InDesign CC.

    ------

After that I tried to manipulate with plugins folder.

After renaming the plugins folder and trying to run InDesign CC - I have an error msg that there is no svml_dispmd.dll. Trying to search for that file in other CC's app folders and... every app (but InDesign - of course) has its own svml_dispmd.dll. Maybe that's the point?

After renaming plug-ins folder - there is no crash after splash screen. After the svml_dispmd.dll msg dissapears the app works "almost" fine (no preferences, and I guess - no plugins ).

BUT! There is one, very strange thing. When I renamed all the subfolders inside Plug-Ins folder, and restored the right name to the plugins folder - instead of missing-in-action-svml_dispmd.dll message there is --- surprise --- well-known CRAAAASH.

Just upgraded to Indesign CC and I'm having the same problem.  It crashes at the splash screen before the app can fully load.

Same problem here. And I also have an urgent deadline. And the main problem is that I saved my file and now I can't edit it in inDesign CC since it crashes and can't open it in CS6!!!!

Here is my Problem report (Mac - Mountain Lion)

I have the exact same problem:

    - Press 'a' to make a text frame (with a doc open or not) = crash

    - Load the Character Panel = crash

I was able to access the font list once - I changed the default front from Minion Pro to FS Albert. (just removing FS Albert from the fonts list still crashed InDesign)

It is a Font problem. Removing all my fonts from my user Fonts folder and re opening solves it.

Other apps work fine with my fonts.

I have just gone into Font Book.app and Validated all my fonts. Some had errors so I removed them - still crashes.

    Me Too!!!

I'm working on a 15" macbook pro retina display and have the same problem. Sent a report.

This is OBVIOUSLY a major bug across all mac devices for sure. Adobe please FIX. We all have deadlines and can't stop to reinstall CS6 back and forth, etc. Not a happy camper

This is not a font problem!!! Impossible as the crash happens within 2-4 seconds after selecting the text tool and BEFORE I have had a chance to select a font or even approach the type selection box/tool, etc.

also, tried type tool in Photoshop CC and Illustrator CC respectively and no problem with my fonts fully loaded in fontbook, etc.

So does this mean this is an isolated InDesign CC issue?

Same here. Where do I find the crash log?

    Using Windows 7 x64.

Alex , The Crash log on the Windows are not helpful and doesn't provide much of the details in regard with the crash.

Does your InDesign also crash when you are creating Text frame or working in the Text Frame ?

Please try the below suggestion as they ay help :-

    1) Resetting the Preferences :- http://forums.adobe.com/thread/526990

    2) Check in the new user account

    3) Remove any third party plugin installed.
