InDesign Crashing continuously

Hi!

Since yesterday InDesign keeps crashing! The spinning cursor (macos) appears and the program won't respond, for long untill I force quiet the application.

Sometimes it crashes during start-up, sometimes it start, but I can't open a document, sometimes I can open a document but it crashes when i move the cursor, sometimes when i add a item from the library and sometimes exporting is stuck at 1%. So, weird.

I use a macbook pro (2019), ventura 13.3.1 (a). I use CC-files for storage.

There's no InDesign updates since yesterday of last week.

I tried the following:

1. restart the computer (macbook pro)

2. uninstall and reinstall (more than 10 times)

3. installed a older version of InDesign

4. removed the "com.adobe.InDesign" folder (~library/caches),  the "Adobe InDesign" folder (~library/preferences)

5. removed the "librarylookupfile" (~library/application support/ adobe/creative cloud libraries) because I thought maybe It's with items in the CC-library, although I never before had problems.

6. Did a disk-utility check.

Nothing helped so far. I hope someone has a idea and a way to fix this!

Thanks in advance! Bart

Thanks for reaching out Robert! I tried a bunch of the points from the list you sent me, and it helped me narrowing it down.

And I think I found the problem! OneDrive wasn't synchronizing and some of the items in the Library were in OneDrive.

So I'm thinking that with every document that had a OneDrive item/ file embedded, the program crashed when I loaded it, wanted to edit it or export.

Honestly I/m not sure of course but it seems to work now. 🙂

I'm having the same exact problem and tried many things. My onedrive is now synchronized but the problems are still pursuing and I can't even install InDesign anymore (says installation failed). Could you go into more detail on how you resolved this issue? Thanks 🙂

Hi @Julietta31847836ycdx ,

Sorry to hear about the trouble. Please confirm if you're getting any error messages when the installation fails. You can also try the suggestions shared here for troubleshooting installation errors. Also if you have macOS, I'd recommend checking for any pending OS updates as we have received a few cases in which updating OS resolved the crash-related issue in the latest version of InDesign 18.5. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks

Hello, thanks for the response. Unfortunately I had already updated my computer software yesterday and nothing seems to work. I even repaired the creative cloud and InDesign still fails to download. No error message just gives me the retry button. Even when I try and download older versions of ID. I need help 😞
