Interactive PDF - Video disappears when viewing on mobile device

Hi all,

Thanks for taking the time to read this issue I'm currently having.

I have recently designed an Interactive PDF in Indesign.

I have exported the file and everything works fine when viewing on a computer.

However....

When i view the PDF on my mobile device (Iphone) the video simply disappears!

Is it due to the video not being compatible with my mobile, cant see why in this day and age that would be the case?

The video is an MP4 and is embedded into the Indesign File.

The video was imported from our works server, not sure if that has anything to do with it?

Hopefully you can help, appreciate if you can.

The PDF viewers in mobiles devices are very limited compared with PDF viewers in desktop. Even Acrobat mobile is very limited. This is why there are many problems reading PDFs on mobile devices, especially when those PDF contain multimedia.

As has been pointed out countless times, interactive PDF is nothing but a crapshoot for this kind of thing. I wrote a blog post several years ago and if anything, things are even worse now. This is particularly true when it comes to multimedia.

Also, it is a specific software problem. "When viewing on a computer" and "when I view on my phone" tell us nothing useful at all. There are lots of crappy PDF viewers for desktop systems. As for mobile systems, "lots of" factually equals "100%".
