keyboard shortcuts not working CC 2020

Hi all,

For some time, however, before updating to the 2020 version, the keyboard shortcuts like "shift + D" to duplicate or "shift + drag" to scale an element proportionally or "option + space" to zoom in no longer work. I tried all the solutions found on the forum but they didn't give results: I restarted the application doing the preferences reset, I deleted the files of preferences and cache, I restarted the mac, I reset the pram, ... I work on macbook pro Mojave. Any suggestions?

Indeed -- I have had no luck using command+n or command+o for new and open doc, respectively. For over a year. Please fix.

At this end, this happens when a Microsoft product (Word / PowerPoint) was open at the same time as InDesign. Quiting InDesign, Word, PP, restarting always helps. Annoying though.

Same here, even as simple as "command s" doesn't work. So disappointing and frustrating.....!

Same here. Cmd+Space is not working for Zoom; Shift is not working to constrain.

Same thing happening on PCs for past year on CC. Only instead of completely gone it is only sometimes gone.

It is there one minute and gone the next time I launch indesign. Exit program and they come back, sometimes. Sometimes it takes relaunching the program or rebooting the system.

Does not matter if on PC or laptop.

I use many of the shortcuts previously mentions and ctrl-x to cut ctrl-v to paste, or just hitting the delete key on the keyboard.

Type Tool (T) Keyboard shortcut not working here. [InDesign 15.1.1 x64 - PC]

Same issue on mine, 15.1.1, Mac. Whenever I press the (T) it activates but switches back to another tool in a second. Very annoying, did you have the same issue?

Highly annoying, having the same issue here. Whenever I pressed T it switches back to the V selection tool instead. However, noting that this happened on an old ID document (haven't tested this extensively yet), but if I (in the same session) opened a new document with nothing in it, the T tool worked properly in the new document. Switched back to the old document, T switches back to the selection tool near instantaneously. Still, exiting InDesign caused a crash report. MacOS Catalina 10.15.6 on a 2019 Mac Pro.

Back in the day, going from PageMaker to InDesign was a really great experience, but these days it seems MONEY is the only thing Adobe cares about. And Adobe representatives need to stop blaming other softwares and retorting to "delete prefs and/or reinstall" at every turn. The InDesign codebase either needs a major overhaul, or we need something to replace InDesign. I'm looking at Affinity, but have yet to make the leap.

Edit: I've since rebooted but have not been able to reproduce the issue right off the bat, using the same documents. Tried starting Outlook, Microsoft Remote Desktop as well as Excel, but nothing triggered the bug. This may be something that is hard to reproduce, making it difficult to trace back to what is happening.

Thanks, but this is for Illustrator, not InDesign.

Same issue here. Updated to Catalina V 10.15.5 a few days ago and working with the latest version of InDesign. No wacom. Can't drag and dublicate objects, shortcut for zoom does not work. Super annoying

Came here to report this as well, specifically the zoom in/out shortcut not working. No wacom table for me either. In an odd workaround, I've found that this has worked for me. The zoom/in out doesn't seem to work on newly created (since update) documents. But, if I go and open a file created BEFORE the update, the zoom in/out will work. I then close that older document, and open one created since the update and the zoom in/out shortcut is remedied, it works again. Super annoying to have to do that, but it's a workaround (for me at least) in the interim. Give it a try. (I'm still on Mojave 10.14.6)

As for me, it's only the cmd-n and cmd-o the first time after launch that's not working. After creating a new document or opening through the menubar the issue is gone. ID15.0.3 OSX 10.13.6

I just now updated my Adobe suite of products and wish I hadn't! Before I ran the updates the keyboard shortcuts were working fine. After the updates, not so much - e.g. the shortcut "W" for toggling between Normal and Preview modes does not work. I can assign the "W" to one or the other, but this is not how this shortcut worked. I loged into Adobe to see if there were other people having this problem, and found this "list of problems" with the keyboard shortcuts after the 2020 update. And all I see from Adobe are suggestions for what users can do. This is unacceptable. These shortcuts have been assigned by Adobe for years, and are still listed on the Adobe site as standard shortcuts. Please fix your shortcuts!

I'm having the same exact issue. For all Adobe CC the space bar doesn't work to "grab" the artboard. "command-space" doesn't work for the zoom shortcut. It seems Adobe is trying to eliminate the space bar for use with any shortcuts. This is very frustrating as these shortcuts have become second nature to me for almost 15 years!

Are you running Webroot? Have you tried rebooting your computer and only opening InDesign to see if the shortcuts work again? This is usually another application interfering with InDesign's keyboard shortcuts.

I also have no more spacebar hand in the app, this all still happening after OSX update this week still AND restarts with only one app open. HELP this is majorly messing with work flow. Why not ask in the Illustrator forum?
