Question

New page moves an all following pages text frames

Since one of the last updates, I can no longer insert pages into an Indesign document without the text frames on the following pages shifting to the right or left. I know the following discussion (https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign-discussions/new-spread-in-document-causes-all-text-frames-after-the-new-page-to-move-toward/m-p/10713049), but the solution does not work. Any ideas?

I have found a workaround: If I do not use the + button in the page menu, but the right mouse button and add an even number of pages, then all frames remain stable. However, this is not a satisfactory solution.

Hi @Matthias Georgi,

Thank you for sharing the details of the issue. Let’s work together to resolve this:

  1. Could you let me know which version of InDesign you are using and the details of your operating system?
  2. Is this issue happening with just this particular document, or are other files also affected?
  3. If possible, could you share a screen recording of the workflow that leads to the text frames shifting? This will help us understand the problem better.

Looking forward to your response so we can pinpoint the cause and provide a solution.

Best,
Abhishek Rao

Thank you for answering.
1) Indesign 2025 (latest version), OS: MacOS 15.1.1, Intel and M-Macs

2) it is happening in several documents, the documents are used alternating on several computers
3) I made a screen recording

Looking forward if we can find a solution.

Best,

Matthias

Do you have Magnet installed on your Mac? If so, deactivate it.
