Adobe Lightroom Classic 12.2 and Photoshop 24.2 flickering after 5 or 10 minutes of utilisation

Hello everyone ! 

I have a problem with my two software, Lightroom Classic 12.2 and Photoshop 24.2. 

After using the software 5 or 10 minutes, my screen is flickering, and I can't really see anything on the screen and the problem disappear when I turn off the software... Is anybody experiencing the same thing?

Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'll need more info to help you. You haven't tagged what operating system you are working on. Could you please share the system info of Photoshop or Lightroom Classic from Help > System info > Copy & paste into a text document > upload to Creative Cloud files (https://assets.adobe.com/files) and share the link here?

 

Screen flickering is mostly related to the stability & load on the GPU.

 

To begin troubleshooting, go to Lightroom Classic > Edit > Preferences > Performance > Use Graphics Processor > Set it to Off if it is on Custom or Auto. If this shows you any differences, please check this article to troubleshoot the GPU further: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/troubleshoot-gpu.html

 

Try this for Photoshop:

  • Go to Preferences > Performance > Uncheck 'Use Graphics Processor.'
  • Restart Photoshop.

Turning Off Graphics Processor is not helping 

 

As soon as I turn on Photoshop or Lightroom, my MacBook Pro is clearly over heating and troubles starts 😞

Thanks for sharing the details. Unusual overheating can be directly linked to a hardware-level issue.

 

Try using any other resource-demanding application and test if the machine overheats. If you'd like, you can try to reset Photoshop & Lightroom to the default state to be sure.

 

Go to the location of the preference folder below and rename it to backup. https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html

  • macOS: In the Finder, hold down the Option key when using the Go menu > Library > Go to Preferences/Adobe Photoshop [version] Settings
  • Rename the Adobe Photoshop folder by adding a .old at the end. (Adobe Photoshop 2023 > Rename > Adobe Photoshop 2023. old)

 

These changes will give a fresh start to Photoshop as a fresh install. Reset Lightroom Classic following the second (manual) method from this article: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/help/setting-preferences-lightroom.html
