After Making Edits in Photoshop, Original Image Pops up Briefly When I Click on it

Noticed lately that after editing an image in Photohop, that when I later click on the image thumbnail in Lightroom Classic that the original image pops up for a fraction of a secong before displaying the edited image. Wondering why it is doing this and if there is a way to "rasterize" or lock changes so that the edited image is the one and only image in existance going forward.
