Catalog Corruption

I just bought a new computer.  For various reasons I decided to start over with LR.  I created a new catalog and imported all my photos 20+k.  Shortly after the import a message popped up saying my catalog was corrupt and would be repaired when I restarted LR.  I restarted and it went through the fix process but it's still not right.  All my folders are there, but more than half show a photo count, but no photos!  Can anyone suggest what I'm doing wrong?

    Perhaps the catalog is still corrupted. What you could do is the following:

     

    1. Create a brand new catalog
    2. Choose 'File - Import from Another Catalog' and import your old catalog. In the dialog that comes up, choose to add new images without moving them.
    3. If the problem is gone after this import is done, then use this new catalog from now on.
    4. If your catalog was synced, you will have to enable sync for this one. And if you used any publishing services you will have to recreate these.

    I think I may have fixed it.  I created a new catalog on the C drive and re-imported all my photos again.  It's been a few days and it seems to have fixed it.  I guess LR doesn't like catalogs on external drives?  Anyway, I appreciate the help!

    I hope you didnt import the images from your hard drive rather than the old catalog. You will have lost a lot of information and settings.

    I have my catalog on an external drive with images and no issue. There was somethng else happening with yours.

    Under the concept of a picture is worth a thousand words, Please post a full screen capture of you Library module, in grid mode, with the navigator panel visible, as much as possible of the folders panel visible (it may be helpful to see the folder expanded as to include any  parent folder) , the filter bar (top) and the task bar (bottom) and the filmstrip, and over on the right, at least the histogram.

     

    Might want to have a misbehaving photo selected.

      Here's a screen shot.  I hope it's readable.  You can see the folder 2011 shows 0 photos.  When I imported everthing there were photos there.  Then I got the error message and when I restarted they were gone.

      The catalog and photos are on an external drive (also new). The drive has approx. 85% free.  Thanks for the info on the video driver.  I'm going to update it now.

        Not the cause of your problem, but your GPU driver is old. Current available is v 546.33 (Studio)

        • Is that an internal or external drive?
        • Is that a SSD drive?
        • How much free space in %
        • If external, is the drive letter permanently assigned.
        • If external is it prevented from going to sleep, [pprevented from saving power? (lrC does not like that)

            Also a few additional questions.

             

            • The hard drive you place the catalog in, how much free space in percent is remaining? And yes I do mean %. Looking for at least 20%, some say 25% free.
            • What hard drive are you placing your photos on?
            • Do you sync (automatically) your catalog to the cloud? Perhaps OneDrive.

              Please post your System Information as Lightroom Classic (LrC) reports it. In LrC click on Help, then System Info, then Copy. Paste that information into a reply. Please present all information from first line down to and including Plug-in Info. Info after Plug-in info can be cut out as that is just so much dead space to us non-Techs and it takes up vast amounts of scroll space making the reply less readable and less likely that others will bother with your post.
