From lightroom to photoshop back to lightroom

After editing in photoshop, my file doesnt go automatically back to lightroom.

So I am in lightroom, I go from there to 'edit in photoshop', then I 'save', but the file doesn't come back to lightroom... How can I solve this?

there is no error message, it does nothing. When I go back to LR Classic I see a grey file and after that nothing

Do you mean that the file from PS appears as a thumbnail without an image, and then disappears?

Please explain in detail what happens.

I suppose this is Lightroom Classic.

Are you confident that you do not “save as”? You could try to sync the folder.

Yes, I tried 'save' and just close the app. Nothing works. If I want to sync folder, lightroom wants to sync the whole catalogue (I make a catalogue per year, so it's too many files)

I have one catalog for my 5Tb of image data. When I synchronize a folder, it synchronizes only that folder.

Check the folder, if the file is present. What is the original format and what is the destination format?
