First and most obvious question is that "Init State: GPU disconnected". What is soing on with that?

First thing to try is to simply close everything, and then restart Windows (that is a restart not a shutdown) And see if clearing the kerrnal (as a result) winds up fixing whatever is going wrong with that GPU.

If not, then look at:

__________________________________________________________________________________________

Second oddity to consider, and blame Microsoft for this, is that association of your Catalog (or actually your user system library i.e. Folder, Pictures) with OneDrive. That auto sync of the catalog to OneDrive can cause performance issues, occasionally failures (if OneDrive access is down or extremely slow) and rare catalog corruptions. Consider dissociating the catalog and OneDrive, or copy/move that catalog to a new folder not connected with OneDrive. This has nothing to do with your current problem.

the "Init State: GPU disconnected" shows in system info right after I
get the "Something went wrong" error

If I exit out  and come back into Lightroom here is what I get :

Graphics Processor Info:

DirectX: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (32.0.15.6614)

Init State: GPU for Image Processing supported by default

User Preference: Auto

Enable HDR in Library: ON

Working on trying to disassociate OneDrive from the catalog!

thanks,

Please post your System Information as Lightroom Classic (LrC) reports it. In LrC click on Help, then System Info, then Copy. Paste that information into a reply. Please present all information from first line down to and including Plug-in Info. Info after Plug-in info can be cut out as that is just so much dead space to us non-Techs and it takes up vast amounts of scroll space making the reply less readable and less likely that others will bother with your post.

Two issues

1. GPU driver version

You have Windows Store v27.20.14076.3000. That came out 6 December 2023, so fairy old. Look to update that. LrC is very very picky about GPU drivers, especially post AI.

2. AMD Adrenalin acceleration treatment for LrC as if it was a Game.
